Dinan-Brembo: simple repackaging?

I am a Dinan fan (personal E46 M3 experience) but the new Dinan BBK appears top be a simple repackaging of the Brembo BBK kit (w/ fewer caliper color options.)
-Any Dinan mods to the Brembo engineering? (Price is a wash.)
-If not, what's the point (Dinan logo, Dinan warranty?) This seems to be a transparent attempt by Dinan to cash in on brand-identity marketing.

I had hoped Dinan would produce a unique product line for the MC and MCS that would offer real options, individaul Dinan engineering and nice aesthetic details (where are those ultra-light weight Dinan 17" MC/MCS wheels we ahve been hearing about?)

Dinan re-brands tons of stuff. They've been doing it for years. Upgrades like the 3.36 rear diff upgrade for the E36 M3's were just BMW parts (in the case of the diff straightfrom the M3 auto) remarked as Dinan and put on cars. Another famous example is the old M3 EVO cam sprocket. Their stage 2/3 E36 flywheel/clutch package was just the OE E34 Sachs clutch and lightweight flywheel. The stage 3 kit was the Sachs sport clutch. Suspensions are usually springs with Koni shocks (Dinan says revalved I have never heard this has been verified).

If remarking stuff wasn't bad enough Dinan tends to charge about 2-3 times what one could get the parts for from BMW. Even with the "warranty" you could break stuff and still come out ahead buying off the shelf parts.

That being said I have a Dinan supercharged M coupe which is great. Biggest upside versus something like the evosport or AA kits is that I can get the car smogged in CA no problem since Dinan got the CARB certification.

So to answer your question... might as well get the Brembos. You might want to look into the factory/custom Wilwood kits by Todd @ TCE or RLMini's Outlaw kits. Much cheaper then Brembo's/ Dinan's but use great components.

what a philosphy..

FYI: I have Brembos' on my MCS and prefer the pedal feel/modulation of the cast/machined steel calipers as opposed to BBK's using billet aluminum calipers (such as Wilwood, Outlaw and others.)
-Dinan often claims to have made at least "some" alterations to the tuning parts they don't make in-house. In the case of the Brembo's I can not see or read that they are doing any mods (stock Brembo's.) No attempt at explaining the rational:"why shound I buy Dinan?"
-Repackaging seems like a sorry business philosphy in the long-run. Oh well, maybe someone will pay $2100 for the Dinan brakes but I'd rather have the Italian logo myself!

I don't know if they still sell the EVO sprocket I mentioned earlier. If you can find one bought from BMW and one from Dinan (that Dinan charged 3x as much for) you'll notice that they are IDENTICAL. They lost all credibility for me that they do any significant modification to the parts.
