8in wide in the front and 9in wide in the rear?
I finally went and checked out a Mk5 the other day. I agree looks big / tall. If I had one it would immediatly need to be dropped. The inside is nice, plaid seats look great. It was between that and the Mini and well you can guess which route I went.

Thank your for your helpful post....oh wait, no.

I personally love the setup... Gives the car a very "euro" look... What do you think you could run in an 18? maybe 18x7 front 18x8 rear with some stretch. I think the stretch he had was perfect... Are there any wheels out there that match the look of the Keskin KT4's without the price tag?

Not much in terms of the same look for a lower price...you get what you pay for i guess
hamanns available in both 17 and 18.
There are a lot of mesh wheels out there cheaper than Keskins. You could even have some made to your specs at www.kodiakracingwheels.com for less.

I do think there are cheaper options out there that would work just as well (i personally love my wheels and they were only 100 each)...but if you are looking for something that looks just like the keskins you are probably looking at spending some big money.
arent kodiak more expensive? 17s are more than 400 each. Keskin's are in the 300s
And i know hamanns are 17 and 18s...but how wide? Arent they 8 inches wide? If so someone just posted 18s in the "show me your wheels" thread....so you could ask them about running 18x8's
I read through all of the pages of this thread expecting hideousness like some of the extreme examples of the tires stretched on VW's shown, and was pleasantly surprised when the Mini in question didn't look half as bad as I though it would. I still dislike the look myself, and personally am a function over form guy, and tend to go the opposite direction, I'm running 205/50-15's on the stock 5.5" wide holeys for racing, because my class requires me to use stock sized wheels.
On a previous FWD car I ordered a set of 16x7.5 SSR Comp wheels with 205/45 Pirelli P-Zero tires. It had enough of the stretched look being talked about here that I put less than 500 miles on that combination before ditching those tires for some 215/45 Falken Azenis (they tend to be wider than comparable tires of the same size) which looked much better on the wheels (IMHO) and handled much much better. I got a lot of complements on the car with the wider tires on it, none with the narrow ones that looked somewhat "stretched"

Keskins in the 300s ea..... Then yeah, Kodiak is out of your league. I was under the impression Keskins ran in the 800s ea. from a previous poster, which would open a broad door.
Hamman Anniversary 18x8

Hamman HM-4 17x8

Hamman PG-4 18x8 2 Piece

Personally, I'd go the 17" route with the better options in the lowering and tire choice. Even then, the Keskins are cheaper: Mania has the PG4 for $1,110 ea., the HM4 for $420 ea., and I'd guess those Anniversary rims in the middle.
The NKB look-alike "Cup" wheel (white on the red MINI seen before) are available in 15x5, 15x7, 15x8, 15x9, 16x7, 16x8, 16x9 in silver, white, gold and gun from $240-$430ea. with various offsets too. http://www.memoryfab.com/detail/?id=225
Big wheels are nice, but the MINI just doesn't have room to fit... and tackle that euro look you want IMO.

glad ive got a visual now!
its funny how you think have a great idea and somebody has already beaten you to it!
after stumbling across this thread and seeing the pictures of d6-mcs old mini, i now have a visual for exactly what i was planning on doing to my MINI. its awesome that he went ahead with his idea despite the posts made against it, sh** looked savage!! bummer he sold it
IMO itd be sick if one day more would get into the euro scene with thier minis like the vdub crowd. after reading other threads about going the euro route im somewhat dissapointed in the lack of knowledge (sometimes respect) for euro styling and the people that love it. and how quick some people are to put others down but thats straying from the topic at hand.. will post pics later this summer!

it is now 10 years..and i think the idea is been done by many more.
i've been to WaterFest for the last 13-14 yrs now, i've seen more and more MINIs show up with stretch tires.
I have 16x8 (et25) and 16x9 (et15) with 195 45 tires on my car now with no issues. I would like it to be lower but oh well. No crazy camber 1deg front and 2.5 rear. The only time I've rubbed is when I went to the mountains before I had it aligned. I have put upper and lower arms on it to get the rears pulled in to look better. These are my training wheel set up. I want to go up to 17 to get rid of the gap.
