Mine are on order in Jan 4th :D

9x17 at rear
8x17 at front

The rims look nice, but there is NO way in hell I'd drive on those tires. Looks kinda scary to me.
Post your pics. when you get them.

You know If someone is doing something for looks and not purpose then it is completely correct for everyone to sound their opinion. The majoriy opinion (myself included) is that it looks retarded, He deserves to know what he looks like to the majority of people. If he wants to look real cool to 1 out 250 people and he his ok with that.....great.

I wasn't a huge fan of the close-up in page 2 of this thread... atleast an inch of rim showing outside of the tire. To me, that was WAY over done and hella-ghetto.

I hate to admit it, but the pics of that dark silver MINI are hot! If you are into it for the show and the style, you hit it right on for me. Great look! Just enough of the stretch to be unique without overdoing it.

On the other hand, I probably wouldn't do it to my car due to performance/safety/handling reasons, but I commend you for trying something different and having the originality to see it when many others couldn't.

The gray car in the underground park does look very agressive and squat! I like it! ...But up close the wheels still look a bit dumb. ...Too much rim - esp. on the rear. The front is close to looking OK. ...But still why only have looks without handling when you could have both?

If the squate stance and low-profile look is what we're after here why not find a lower profile tire and use spacers on the wheels to push them out. Visually accomplishes everything except the bare rim sticking out.

That section of bare rim on page 2 of this thread looks as though it might touch road under hard cornering. ...Can you imagine the roostertail of sparks? ...Skating through turns, but very low rolling resistance. LOL.

I think the dark silver looks pretty damn cool with its mesh wheels.
That would be the direction I would go if I was going for all dress-up.
That stretched, but not over-stretched tire on the front is a nice touch.
I'd put in a nice sound system with TFT and that new awesome sounding
Invidia exhaust, and cruise around town and show it off to my friends.

But, having 2 MCS's is too luxurious for me, so will just stick to my one
MCS with performance oriented street mods for now.

2) the 9x17 rear and 8x17 front
3) both

As im gonna be going for the same id just like to know - as ive said before i wont be doing the stretched tyre look

I think the 17x9 is a little too extreme, but 17x8 looks good with is stretched
tire. What size do you use on the 17x8s? 215/45's?

If it was my dressup car, I'd probably do 17x8's with your tire setup.

it's still a Mini...

I think the point is this... if you want to be differnt ... so be it...

I went with Slate Grey ATS rims... 15x7 ( 12 lbs) with 215/60/15's ( 23 lbs)

I like the ride and the feel... next time i will get 225's,,, I like the wide filled out look....
I added a fender flare kit and it all fit's well....

so if you like all rim and no tread or all tread and no rim.... RIDE ON....
if you wnat to stretch a tire to it's limits and .. have fun..
we all own unique car's .. that is what make us differnt from the rice burners...

sorry no pictures, not smart enought to attach them..

It's the very exposed lip on the rear wheel and somewhat exposed lip on the front.

The appearance from afar looks good. I still say you could attain similar without compremising handling to the extent that this car would suffer under agressive driving.

I think the exposed lip 'STRETCH' all started as an error. ...Some fool ordered tires too narrow for his rims. He couldn't return em or something so he said 'install em'. ...The original 'ghetto stretch'. Some other uneducated fool thought it looked cool. ...And so started the ignorance breeding ignorance fashion statement.

If its the "Euro" look these folks are trying to copy it'd be like early Lamborghini Countach's and other similar vintage. The tire/wheel relationship was similar. ...but no exposed lip. The tires were super low profile and the carcasse was THICK - but that was due to limitations of late 70's early 80's tire production - not because it looked uber cool or was the best performance option. Back then they needed a tire that would handle 150+mph and not just drag strip driving. What they came up with (by todays standards) was less than optimal.

EDIT:
Looks like I have my vintage of Lambo wrong. ...Although the 79-81 Countach had a lot of lip showing (inside the wheel) it ran on 15" not so low profile tires. ...I'll find some pics of what I'm describing and post them.

d6-mcs' gallery pics look nice. Deep dish mesh wheels are great. But the back wheels look TOO overdone. The same 17x8 on the front and back would be perfect, I THINK.

However, I post on this forum to learn about our cars and their limits. People here know their s**t. If I were to try something extreme and also extremely unpopular, I wouldn't decide to do it, order the products, THEN post and ask for opinions, then not be able to come out and say why you want it like that and that you don't care what the "expert" says.

Everyone is here so that they can hear what the "expert" has to say.

I believe that he could reach those speeds....but if he could then im sure any performance modded mini could reach those speeds and go higher. I just like to remember the sig line "If you arent scraping, then you arent low enough"

I like the look of the car...the rims are dead sexy. Just dont pretend its for performance reasons.
When I said performance, I was talking about him saying he needed larger rears to combat his rear-end swinging out on him. I do agree however that his heavy wheels with stretched tires are obviously not the choice for the performance-minded consumer. They look nice, but that's only standing still. after driving and having the tired potentially lose the bead seal, wear unevenly, or trash the rim, it will not look so hot. right?

The car looks awesome. The tire stretching thing is a function of getting the lowest possible offset rim on the car and still have it tuck. You add fender flares or roll the stock fenders to get even more pronounced. Sometimes you just have to run a skinnier tire to get it to tuck under the fender. From my drift tuning days, we did it to stiffen up the sidewalls to get quicker response from the tires. Not easy to do on some tires as the sidewalls did not want to flex. Ride quality goes to crap, but the responsiveness and communication are really quite good. Traction was still pretty decent, though that was more of a function of the tire compound than anything. So yes, even though he is doing it for looks, there is some performance benefit from it depending on the desired tuning effect. I still don't agree with running wider in the back tho...

Of COURSE the official answer from anyone at Tire Rack or any other company is going to be that it's dangerous and not recommended, but like anything it's safe when done right. IMO, if I can shred and chunk a 225 stretched on a 9.5" wheel then that thing is NOT going to unseat the bead...

The first word that comes to mind is... well... ewwww.
And that's coming from a younger user (18)...
And yes, I also dislike all other kinds of rice.. I guess I'm just more traditional.
Some things from Japan should stay in Japan... and this just might be one of them.

Glad you did it though, and glad you are happy with it. We're all unique for a reason.

And to answer your question scooby - 3) both.
I think 17x8 front and back would be fine, I think having the wider wheels in the rear should stay with rear wheel drive cars. It's not like I hate it on all cars, my vette had 9.5 in the front, 11 in the rear.

I think it looks as stupid as the fad a few years ago of putting the spare-sized tires on a car tucked under, or the tiny white walls and slamming. Ghetto.

....aggressive...DON'T HATE!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW....its all i can think!! this is a true 'euro look' (mayb alittle to tall in diameter) but looks killer man. Glad to see it cuz its been told to me a few times that it can't be done but here it is.... ...MAD PROPS 2U' !!!!
im going the same route (been saving up for a while now:impatient ) but i will be doing 8.5x18 (3-piece) all around w/a little spacer in d' rear so i can rotate cuz U know them toyo's will wear U out- money wise. and its true toyo's r' made for stretching thats why i use them(not advertising or anythin') i do think U could go alittle wider in D' rear as far as tires go but U' know what U' want so rock it like that. peace,
& remember theres alot of haters in this forum but alot more that know a alot of sheit to so keep ur' ears open for advice it wont hurt.

this car is from japan, dam good looking. if anyone has any thoughts about this PLEASE REPLY. thanks wheels are going to be here in a couple of weeks. heres some pics of the wheels i am doing.

Wow

Wow is right. I believe at .000000000001 G's you're going to roll over on the edge of the wheel (the rim of the wheel if you'd like) and off into the bushes you go.

To each his own. I think it looks like poo on VWs, too. I thought it looked like poo on Nissan Hardbody pickup trucks in the 80s as well! ...but, it's your deal bro. If that's what you want to do, then rock on. It's your car after all. Make it exactly how YOU want.

Learn before you speak. You can say you dont like them.....but be careful about the other stuff.

This is a pic of a car that runs stretched tires.....thats a lot more force on the tires than just 000000000001 G's

i can see you thinking ugly....but how does the word stupid make sense?

Do you have pics of your cars? I would like to evaluate the value of your strong opinions. Thanks.
