Awesome tire,

But 205/45 lacks load capacity for an S -
An S requires 1130 lbs a tire minimum.

Is that limitation because of the specific tire or that general size?

I have F1's (215/45's) on my SWorks and love them.

Bought them from Alex at a good price. Can't go wrong with these tires.

On Alex's chart with it's links I found that the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in 205/45/16 has a max load of 1074 lbs. Probably if you are carrying passengers you may not meet what Alex has said is the minimum load needs for the S at 1130 lbs. By your self (or possibly even with one passenger) you may be OK. So, it's probably not a good idea. There were no 215/45/16's in the G3-D3 listed. So, the 215/45, which Mark has must be with the 17 inch rims, as they are listed as having a 1356 lb. max load. Big difference between 1356 and 1074.

SumWon, I think Alex is talking about the load of 1130 being specific to any size tire on the S, i.e., the minimum load capacity needed for the S irregardless of which tire is used. So, when looking for a tire, it should be at least rated at 1130 lbs or higher -- whether it is a 15 or 16 or 17 inch tire, and whether it is a 205 or 215, etc.

Davo, I think a good size to consider is the 205/50/16, which is available in the GS-D3 and meets the minimum load rating (I did not write it down though). Alex recommends that size a lot.

I have the 205/50/16's on my MCS and love them. The grip is phenomonal in dry or wet, and the ride is so much better than the runflats. I also have the Hsport springs and couldn't be happier in how it looks. While I have never tried any of the others, I don't think you could go wrong with th F1 GS D3's If you can get them. Last I knew they were on a lengthy back order.......Alex?

I got mine in yesterday and had them mounted etc. Great service from tirerack. I have the 205/45-16s and have no rubbing - car is smacked on the ground. The tires are slightly below the mininum load requirements, but I never have people in the rear seats...I think maybe once since I have had the car. 75% of the time it is just me in the car, 25% me and my wife. We also don't carry a whole lot in the car ever outside of groceries etc.

Hey, Thanks all... Still working on this with alex, ... we will probably go with 205/50/16s... I am sure the ride can only improve, the rf tires are harsh..

thanks for the feedback.
