Yep. I installed a set of these on my R53 a couple weeks ago, and could not be happier. Much improved ride, quiet, much more supple handling. Love them!

Where can I actually GET the RE960's?

Guys, I called Alex and he confirmed that these are excellent, softer riding runflat tires. However, I can't find them anywhere and my tires need replacing now.

Turns out that Holy Grail is the right description, as these seem to be great tires, but not a lot of good if they don't actually exist!

I can't switch to non run-flats - any help on where I might find these is much appreciated. After Alex couldn't find them I tried Sears, America's/Discount, Firestone etc. and they confirmed what Alex told me I am in San Diego, CA.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, just to clarify - "Alex" in my original post is Alex from Tire Rack. And he tells me that Tire Rack does NOT have them, or for sure I would have purchased them. My size is 205/45/17. I would wait for Alex to get them but by then I will be down to the belts.

What was your impression when going from 195's to 205's? I understand that the ride is much improved with the new model of runflat, but how about steering feel and adhesion?
I am on my second S hardtop and I got 16" wheels this time around. I had 17" runflats on my last mini and changed then to non runflats after 11,000 miles. I will keep the current 16's until they wear out.

I got my 205/45/17s from Tirerack just a few weeks ago. No stock problem at that time. I think they came from the Georgia warehouse.

One cool thing...now that the tires are not generating so much road noise, I can hear my exhaust popping more!

I went to Tirerack and compared the specs of this new tire to the Conti Pro Contact that I currently have. Both are 195/55-16s. Tirerack lists the new tire as 5lbs heavier(23vs28). Could this be a mistake?

Probably not a mistake - weight savings is one of the reasons people are so anxious to ditch their run flat tires (the other being the harsh ride).

Just an FYI.

I just bought these tires from TireRack on April 27 and they arrive tomorrow, mounted on ASA AR1's. The road test said the ride of these 3rd generation RFT's was much different than previous RFT's and rode just as smooth, quiet as a NON RFT. I am anxious to see how they work. I can only compare them to the NON RFT's I bought for my Z4 a year ago.
