Where to buy OEM brake pads?

Where's a good place to buy OEM brake pads?

After the last track day where we went completely through a set of pads, I'm needing new ones. I'm thinking of trying to change the pads myself, so now I need to find a source for them.

If you are tracking your car, OEM pads are not what you want. Besides, they are dirty as all hemlock. Ceramics will serve better both for endurance and cleaner wheels. Look into Carbotech at http://www.autoxcooper.com/carbotech_brake_pads.php
or EBC Red Stuff from
http://www.waymotorworks.com/ebc-brakes/
Those aren't the only two but it's a start.

For the moment, I want to stick with OEM pads.

Nothing wrong with sticking with OEM, but like the other responses say they make alot of dust and do not hold up well if you are tracking alot. Might be worth it to upgrade, it will save you $$ in the long run.

You can of course purchase OEM brake pads at any MINI dealer (parts department) at MSRP. Some dealers and vendors sell parts at a discount, for example Classic MINI: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/classicauto

We sell the OEM brake pads, but I really would suggest taking this chance to upgrade to the EBC redstuff. If your doing track stuff the ability to handle more heat would help a lot.

1+

Not sure why the OP is thinking that OEM brake pads are worth considering.
My only guess is that the dealership says only OEM brake pads would sustain his warranty, any changes would void the brake warranty.

OEM brake pads are ok for street use but too dusty for anyone to put up with.

Given you may track your MINI using a pad that is better suited to handing heat and perform better when hot makes sense.

Downside of track ready brake pads is they are noisy- squeaky and still dust a bit more than other pads like ceramic pads.

You can also consider Hawk pads- they have various levels of performance vs street.

I've been through about six different brake pads after the OEM pads and would never consider the OEM pads again.

Don't go OEM... Even if you go EBC Red, you will get better performance and less brake dust and they really aren't all that pricey.

If you're sold on OEM pads, try Classic Mini in the Vendor Directory. I've found them to be a great source for OEM parts - much better priced than my local dealer.

I'm wanting OEM pads because most of the time, MINI is paying for them. On all the previous sets of we've managed to get 3 track days, and several thousand miles, out of them. This time we were a little more enthusiastic, and went through the new pads. I don't feel like returning to the dealer with only a thousand miles on the pads, so I'm thinking of replacing them myself.

I got some from R1Concepts, they seem to work.

I'm considering going to pads specifically for the track, and we seem to have a chorus recommending Redstuff. Why? EBC themselves would seem to recommend Yellowstuff.
