Making silver wheels black

What kind of material is used to make silver wheels matte black? How difficult would it be for a newbie to do?

Here's my car...

spray paint. super simple to do. i havent done it myself but it should be as simple as cleaning your wheels, taping off the tire (if you dont want to remove them) and then getting the appropriate paint. im not going to tell you what kind cuz i dont know. but you can probably find the right one at your local autoshop like pepboys.

duplicolor has paint that is formulated for painting wheels. it is available at most auto parts places -- autozone, advance auto, o'reillys. basically is simple as mask off what you don't want painted. clean the wheel, scuff up the wheel, spray on primer, spray on color coat. pretty straightforward

good luck

Rattle can is the cheapest, paint shop a little more, and for the high rollers go get them bad boys powder coated.

x2 on what Porthos wrote.
Or, you can just not wash the wheels and they’ll assume a nice matte black appearance in a few weeks

Don't paint here are two of the most common methods.....Powder coat black and Black oxide coating or just purchase new black rims

White Wheels are difinetly the way to go with your white roof and mirror covers.

And for the cheapies out there....Plasti-dip in the rattle can. Did my cheap wheels last summer and they have held up surprisingly well. And you can touch-up the paint with no hassles. Plus it comes off fairly easily.

I had my wheels powder coated white because the white white paint started to fail.
