Von Max VM!

Does anyone have any experience with this wheel yet?
Will this combination fit on my car with zero issues?

I have a 2009 Cooper S all stock with 17" tires.

I would like to put the Von Max VM1 Machined w/Black Accent 17 X 17.5 wheels on my car with Yokohama AVID EnVigor 205/45r17 tires.

Will this work and what do you think of the wheels? I'm having a tough time coming up with the right combination.

Regards,

Pat

Hi Pat,

The 7.5" width combined with an ET 40 offset is on the aggressive side. I'd expect a slight rub on rear bumper brackets. This is an easy enough fix with a Dremel sanding drum.

If you lower your Mini your less likely to have the rub due to the added camber. This rub is very minimal and will rub itself clear if not attended to.

Von Max is a new line for us, I have sold a few sets and the feedback has been positive. It's a sharp wheel!

Thanks for the information Alex.

I do have the wheels installed with Continental 215/45ZR17 non run flat tires. I looked everywhere under the car for any area that could possibly have a rub. I was unable to detect any potential rub areas. Discount Tire did the install and told me that they did a thorough inspection and could not find any area's that would run either. So I'm gong to run with it.

My next question for all the experts out there is what is the proper air pressure for this set up? Discount Tire set them at 30 lbs. My driving style can be characterized as aggressive but I never drive over 80 or 90 mph.

Should I just leave it or add a couple pounds of air?

Thanks for the help.

Pat

By the way Alex, the wheels are awesome. It's going to take some work keeping them clean, (I need to change brake pads.) but it will be worth it. I really like them!! I'll try to get some pics for others to look at. But it's raining here in Seattle so it will have to wait until the rain stops.

I'd probably bump them up to 35 PSI. Keep an eye on the tread wear to see if the pressure needs further adjusting.

Shoulder wear, add pressure
Center wear, decrease pressure

Thanks for the information Alex. I'll bump em up and keep an eye on the wear. Now I have to get some wheels for my wife's car. She already has hers picked out. She is getting the Motegi Racing MR281. They should look pretty good on her Pepper White Mini. Her Mini has Pink and Black stripes with a cool looking bulldog on each door. The bulldog is in full gallop with a Pink Tie blowing behind it to simulate the wind while running. The tie has her initials in it in black lettering. It's a pretty awesome one of a kind car. The wheels should really set it off nicely.

I'll post some pictures of both vehicles once they are all finished.

Thanks for the info.

Regards,

Pat
