While dropping my Cooper S off to repair a faulty door handle ,it was suggested I replace the Front tires due to wear & consequently a rim also that could not be balanced.....THREE days later, ("We don't have the tires/rim/door latch avaliable, will have them over nighted etc&quot I receive a call informing me that the "Technician" was unable to mount the replacement tires (17' run-flats) due to the need for a "special" tool ! Apparently Vista BMW / Cooper Sth Fl didn't anticipate having to change a customers' tire during service .......The Service manager claimed that no-one in the past three months had requested such a thing,& that fitting the tire Traditionally resulted in the tearing of the tire.Anyone else had any difficulty getting tires changed through their authorised dealer ?

You'd think the dealer could change the tire! My local tire place cannot, as they don't have the tool... but if the dealer can't, how are you supposed to switch tires?

I did also. The first time I went to a tire store that said they cold do it. They damaged the rim THREE times. So weeks later I finally got a wheel and tire that would work. So months pass and I hit a curb and take it to the dealer to fix a few things. After a week of waiting they call me and tell me that it’s ready. I asked what took so long…they had to get a new tire because the first tire they tried to put on didn’t go so well and was damaged. So far my car has had three tires and seven wheels and I just turned 10,000 the start of the month. This better not happen when I plunk down the bling for the BBS RGR’s. cross our fingers……but what I was told was the 17” wheels I have is a bad design and it makes mounting a run flat tire on there hard. I do not know, that is just what I am told.

Goodness! Definitely take your business to a location that already has the proper equipment and trained staff!

On the bright side, MINI (and, for that matter, BMW) dealer service is about as bad as it can get. It can only improve from here.

Americas Tire Warehouse can do it with no problem. Had mine done today.
Hope you have one nearby.

this is your car's way of telling you it doesn't like the runflats.
