Tire Width Options?

So taxes are in, and I am itching for my summer wheels and tires before what I want goes out of stock and Im somewhat confused on tire/wheel widths.

I am looking at the 17" OZ Ultraleggera's that are 17x7 with a 37mm offset.

Wheel size I am thinking is 215/45ZR17 since they are summer/warm weather tires and I like the wider wheel look overall.

I am lowered on NM springs (1.4" drop) and am slightly worried about rubbing with all the horrible roads around Boston. I have looked around on NAM and can't seem to find this kind of fitment on a MINI currently with any insight on rubbing.

So questions are:
1. Will this tire size fit the OZ wheels?
2. Any better tire recommendations for the OZ 17x7 wheel?
3. Is rubbing on a slightly lowered MINI going to be an issue under 'normal' driving conditions?

Im not looking to go super aggressive with fitment since the roads here suck and I cant afford a new tire/wheel every month. Just looking for a good look, getting rid of the RFs and hopefully making the ride less jarring on the stiff suspension.

Thanks

You will be fine with 215/45. Some of the sticky tread tires like NT05/NT01 run a little wider. Look at the tread width stats.

Rubbing should not be an issue unless your loading down the MINI even with the drop.

Enjoy and have fun on the twisties or track.

I decided to go with Nitto Neogens 205/40/17 on OZ Alleggerita l7x7 with Bilstein sport shocks. Also NM lowering springs and NM adjustable end links in rear with l9 mm Alta sway. Heard stories of not needing rear control arms but will go with H-sport adjustables just the same. Not sure if I'll need front adjustable end links or not. Got all this stuff sitting here waiting for the time to install on my 08 mcs. Reason for going with the 40 instead of 45 is for a little extra insurance against rubbing since the Oz offset is 37 and puts it just about in the right location and on occasion I do carry weighted items in the rear.

Im thing of going with the 215/45/17 Continental ExtremeContact DW since they will be warm weather tires only and I'll have my OEM wheels and tires for colder months. Hopefully they will work out better than the OEN RFs

Thanks old81

Anything will be loads better than the RFs. When my tires finally wear out I am going with Yokohama AVID Envigors in the stock size. Being in Boston, I can see the need for two sets of tires, especially this winter. I am going with all seasons because the worst snow I deal with is in western NC. Haha.

I also have the NM springs and 22mm rear sway. I got the alignment guys to get it back to stock alignment because that set up can eat tires if you do not rotate, rotate, rotate. Also, my toe was AWFUL after I got the springs installed. Just a word of caution. Haha.

My '08 has NM springs with Federal 225/35/18 tires on Drag 42mm offset wheels. No rubbing whatsoever!

I would check out the 205/40-17 options. I had them on my mini from Hnakook in the Ventus RS-2 and I loved the look and feel. Check around a bit more and see if you can find a great tire at a great price in 205/40-17

I run the 215 45 17s now, but just picked up a set of 245 40 17s almost the same diameter
