16x8 Volk CE28N or te-37 anyone?
I'm thinking about getting some and just wanted to know if anyone KNEW if they would fit on the car with most of the tires one might put on them. The te-37's are +46 and I'd go for the +49 CE28N's if I ordered them and space them out as needed, with some 1.5mm, 3mm or 5mm spacers. Another option would be the Japanese market SSR type C's with a +45 but last time I checked Tire Rack wouldn't order Japanese market wheels for me and I can't find an overseas source for them.
2/1/04 update, My measurements indicate that a 16x8, +47 will fit only with the factory struts (front inside tire to strut clearance) and one of the narrower tires, with a mounted width of 9.0" or less. Most coilovers will require a +42 wheel with this same tire and possibly a shorter than usual spring and or a short tire. Leda's are bigger in diameter than KW's and will require even less offset, another 2 mm, I think. My KW's are 52 mm I was told the Leda's were AT LEAST 55 mm.
A 16x8, +42 wheel may pose a rear tire clearance problem, on the outside. It will be more of a problem with a taller tire and a lowered car.
3/12/06 update, I now have the ce28n, 16x8, +42. It is the WIDEST wheel that will clear ANY front strut. Total width of the wheel, lip to lip, is 9" and it only clears by 2mm. I'm still limited to a 9" mounted tire width unless I space it out. Stock struts would allow for up to a 1/2" wider tire than my KW's. In the rear this same wheel only clears the trailing arm by apx. 3mm. My 15x7.5 SSR comps (total width 8.25") only clear in the rear by 2mm and flex enough when autocrossing to rub the arm lightly, so I use a 1/16" spacer with them.

SSR JDM does not match our program, SSR features lip treatments in almost ALL of the line.
SSR JDM also does not clear coat ANY wheels, wich is a requirement for TireRack

Richard, you have been posting a lot here lately asking about new wheels and elsewhere about R compound tires. What are the plans for next year? Enquiring minds want to know. Are you selling the 15" SSRs?

No, but I'm considering my class options and a possible set of combination street/rain tires for STX. Instead of just driving to an event on the runflats and changing to the 205/50/15 Falkens I would have the option to drive out on say a set of 205/50/16 Goodyear F1 GS D3's and be ready to go if it was raining or be able to change back to them if it started raing during the middle of the event and be ready to leave quicker when it was over.
Plus, I'm planing on selling my STS Pro Solo Championship Subaru and all the wheels and tires for it, so I'll have a lot more space. 2 sets of 15x7.5 te-37's, 1 set of 16x7.5 SSR's, ! set of 17x7.5 Racing Hart cp-035's, 1 set of 17x7.5 SSR's, 3 sets of 17" S-03 PP's, 2 sets, of S-02 PP's, 2 sets of 225/50/15 BFG KD's and 1 set of 215/45/16 Falken Azenis. The garage may seem a little empty after that so I need some more MINI stuff.

>>why do you require clearcoats?
Adverse winter conditions are very hard on unsealded wheels.
We also mandate a 1 year finish warranty, witch is more succeptable to ussies if not clearcoat is applied

Thank's for the link. A quick check of their site indicates I may be able to get some Volks from them but I saw no info on SSR but they do say to contact them for anything you can't find on their site, so I'll be sending them an e-mail soon.
Alex, thanks for your info also, the machined lip issue is not a problem for me and I guess I could get the wheels clear coated locally, though a factory job would be much preferred. I'd be willing to live with these "problems" if the Tire Rack is willing to get them for me and the price is right! The SSR type C's I'd be interested in as mentioned above need to be 16x8 +45 in Champion Gold.

TR does not sell Volks, I was asking them about SSR Type C's. The prices at your provided link are high. I have purchased Te-37's several times from several places for 20+% off list. The linked site offered less than 10%. This does depend on the value of the Yen though and it can be hard to find more than 15% off. I think UPgrademotoring is doing 20% on Te-37's and for some reason only 15% on the ce28n's

i have a local shop that does a lot of business in volk wheels. when i was looking they quoted me ~1700 for the 17 inch ones (Te37 or CE28 same price). i think the 16s were in the 1500-1600 range (can't remember sorry).
if anyone is interested i can forward the contact info, the shop is top notch, they sell a lot of volk.

Just thought I'd add one of my wheel info links. Wheelspecs.com follow the manufacturer links from there to SSR Type C's and Racing Hart CP-035's with a list of all sizes and weight's for each size/offset/and bolt pattern. What I'm trying to say is not all 16x7's weigh the same even for a given wheel like the Type C, it depends on the offset and bolt pattern. Most wheel wt. charts ignor this and list only one of the weights for all of the wheels of the same size. Volk's link does not give weights but does list all sizes and offsets. Volk, in the past, published weights for the te-37 but no longer.
