Went from 18's to 17's this weekend

I was looking to save some weight and get a getter ride/handeling so I ditched my JCW R105 18's and got a set of SP10 17's. I went with the Nitto Neo Gens again 215/40R17. So far I really like it. I'm still not sure about the Hyper Black color on my Pepper White car. The flat black SP10's didnt look as good. Anyway here are the pics. Before and after. Let me know what you think either good or bad.

Beofore with the 18's

and the new 17's

Oh and the 18" R105's with new Nitto Neo Gens are for sale in the marketplace if anyone is intrested/

I think both look pretty hot. I went from alloy to a dark anthracite late in my first pepper white MINIs life. Wheel color makes a dramatic difference on a car of this color!

+1 I like the black a lot better but the 17's look good too. Are you selling your 18's?

I wanted the Enkei PF01's but they dont come in black. I was going to buy them and get them painted but the cost was a little more than I could afford right now. I looked at the black SP10's but the flat black didnt look too good. The Hyper Black look great in person. I'm just not 100% sure they look great on my color combo. Oh well. Too late now. The SP10s are very inexpensive and fairly light at 16.5 lbs.

Good choice on the hyper black. The flat black SP10s are silver on the inside of the wheel, so they're really half black and half silver. They wouldn't have looked as good.

New wheels look better. How is the ride now vs the 18 inch?

Since I went with a 215/40/17 the ride is just a little smoother. I can definitively tell the difference in the weight. My steering feels better and handling seems to have improved. I never thought I would ever go down a size in wheels. A 215/45/17 might have been a better choice but I was afraid of it being too tall. Looks like I have plenty of room to fit them.

Interesting. I was thinking about getting an extra set of wheels and going with 17's. I'm running the JCW 18's right now with Hankook Ventus V12's.
