I have the run flat all season tires by Goodyear on 17 inch rims. The Mini Owner's manual book says 33psi with a light load and two people in the car. The tires have a 51 psi max pressure on the side wall. When I call Mini they say use the Goodyear's pressure limits on the sidewall. When I call Goodyear, they say use the Mini's owner's manual recommendations for tire pressure. Which is correct?

Thanks,
Gary

The info on the sidewall is the maximum pressure you should ever put into the tire or risk damage. Don't ever get close to the max for everyday driving!
Use the MINI recommended values, and measure on cold tires (or at least not tires that are hot).

ME TOO 35 psi. On the track they want you to use 42 to 45 to avoid breaking a bead and rolling your mini. I feel 35 will get you more even wear if you like to take turns and annoy your wife.

Keep an eye on your pressures and rotate at least every 10K miles, more requently if you note a disparity in the wear. The rear tires get hardly any wear at all. Whatever you decide for pressure, try to keep it consistent (measure them cold).

The key to telling whether you have the right pressure is a pretty even wear rate across the tread. If the center is wearing faster than the outer portion, you're overinflated and underinflated if the outside is wearing faster.

Same here. I've got 15K+ miles on the car (and tires), and just rotated for the third time (every 5K miles). I asked the guy at the tire place how much life I might have left on the tires, and he said at least another 10-15K. It pays to rotate and keep the pressure consistent!

BTW, I'm riding the Dunlop all-season runflats on 16" rims. I often go on many many spirited drives with SCMM, as well as having had a weekend at the track in Nevada, all with these same tires. On the track weekend, I kept pressure around 40-42 psi.

This topic has been discussed regularly in the past. A search for tire pressure yields this:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mp;topic=11484

I posted in the past-

I looked in the door jam on the drivers side and found the following:

For MC in 15 or 16" rims
For 2 people, inflate tires to 30 psi
For 4 people, inflate tires to 35 psi

For MCS in 16 or 17" rims
For 2 people inflate tires to 33 psi
For 4 people inflate tires to 38 psi

30 for the MC and 33 psi for the MCS are good places to start.
You can average the two values for 2 and 4 person use as stated previously.

well, i think he's asking because those factory numbers are a bit
too mushy for most people. my dealer pumped it up to a frikken
25psi when they sold me my mcs.
