215/40R18's, 15mm spacers, and Coil Overs

Will this set up work? Does anyone have any pictures? My rims and tires should arrive tomorrow and I am in the process of ordering a set of sport coil overs. I want to get the spacers to fill all of the wheel gap and push the rubber out to give it that stance but I don't want to fight rubbing. Has anyone had any problems with this set up?

Cheers,
B

Depends on the offset (et) and width of the wheels plus how low you go.
On my 06 MCS I have; 7x17 et52 wheels, 15mm spacers, 215/40-18 tires, and JCW Springs (about 5/8" drop). Thus, the overall offset is 37mm (52-15). I get slight rubbing on the rear wheel arch and plastic wheel well liner when the suspension is loaded.

The wheels are 7" wide and have a 40mm offset so with 15mm spacers i should be down to 25 overall. Ideally I would like to drop about an inch and half.

All I can tell you is on my 06 cab with JCW everything, when I put 215/40-18's on, I had to remove my 15 mm spacers. The rims are factory black JCW rims. Don't know the offset off hand. And, of course, mine's a first gen car.

I'd set it up without the spacers first, which will probably work and then maybe take some measurements before investing in spacers.

So I just canceled my order on the HK Ventus V21 215/40's and went with the Toyo T1R 205/35's. I think this should help and should solve any problems I may have with rubbing.

I like my Toyo 215/40 T1Rs but those 205/35 tires are going to have very short sidewalls. 205/35 has 2.82" sidewall verse 215/40 with 3.39". For reference the 204/40 has 3.23" sidewall.
That could cause a stiffer ride and you will need to avoid pot holes.

I am definately expecting the ride to stiffen up but i want the additional clearance so I can get a nice drop when my c/o come. Also with the T1R's there was like a 2lb difference per tire between sizes. I chose the 205 because I only have a 7" rim and I am not a fan of the mushroom look. When ordering I did not see a 205/40 option, unless i missed something Toyo doesnt make a tire in that size.

The Toyo T1-R are awesome tires. very well balanced wet / dry grip.

I considered the 35 ratio tires, but just didn't want the stiffer ride and more importantly, the increased chance of tire or rim damage. They look sharp, though.

So I got the tires and wheels put on and should have pictures shortly. Going from the run flats the 35 ratio tires still feel amazing. The T1R's are incredible, it feels like I am getting the handling/steering benefits of the sport mode w/o having it on. All in all I am stoked and as I said I will have pics up shortly.

Thanks and no not yet, but they will be shortly, I am mulling over the 5 or 15mm and just need to make up my mind and pull the trigger.

well if youve already got 35's and coilovers just go for gold.... you can camber it in there

theyll only stick out from the fender less than a half inch or so

Lol i like your thinking! Coil overs are actually on order, should have them by the end of the month. With the new socks and shoes I still have 2.5" or so of vertical well clearance so I think it should look nice and tight when all is said and done!
