Spare tire?

Will a space saver spare from a 2004 non S Mini fit a 2006 Mini Cooper S?
Thank you.

I dont see why not

I dont think the S has anywhere to put the spare when you arent using it like the non-S does tho

And I think the late 06 build dates were the r56 (07 model year)

And either way the bolt pattern stayed the same, only the thread pitch changed. As long as you dont use the lug bolts off of the r56 the spare will still fit.

For the '06 R53, the bolt size went from 12mm to 14mm in the June '06 time frame (just checked tire rack and they ask if your '06 MCS was built before or after May '06).

Check Minimania. They detail what models their spare fits. If you don't want to spend $200++ for a new spare you can refer to this link that has a bolt pattern reference that you can research bolt patterns of other cars that match the Mini. It appears that the 95-98 Jetta, 82-89 Accord and the 01-02 Civic have similar bolt patterns and offsets. Salvage yards will sell unused spares for a fraction of the price of a new Mini spare.

I'd like to switch to non-RF's and would feel more comfortable having a spare avail. for long trips. Any rec's?

I have an extra set of full size tires so on a long trip I put one of them into the boot as my spare. I remove the parcel shelf, set the tire on anything that is solid and a couple of inches high so that the wiper motor protrudes into the wheel and then wedge a towel in behind the tire so it doesn't keep rattling on the rear window. It is only my wife and I so we can pack the back seat with stuff.
