I'm pretty sure this isn't pluggable. Opinions, please.

I found this little surprise on the inside of my right rear tire today. Sigh.

So, as the title says, I don't think they are pluggable. What do you think?

You're quite right... punctures in the sidewall of a tire in most cases are not pluggable. Too much flex and squirm that would cause the plug to chafe and eventually blow out. Tough luck... that looks like a brand new tire

Holy cow a pop rivet. Your tire is toast, time for a new one.

<---- exactly. The tire only had about 400 miles on it.

Is it actually a puncture or a superficial cut. I would plug it and put it on the rear... (if it is a puncture). It is on the edge of the tread and should be ok.

Where did you buy the tires? I know that all the local tire shops here offer road hazard warranties.

Did it even go all the way through? It looks to be in the surface rubber.

I bought them from Tire Rack. But that particular tire was a replacement for a faulty one.

Everyone offers road hazard. Not everyone buys it including me for better or for worse. I was going through tires too fast because I didn't have track tires. Now I have track tires and I'll probably get road hazard on the next set since they will last me a lot longer.

It did go all the way through and even if it didn't I felt it would have effected the integrity of the tire. For me, it's worth the $$$ to have it right.

What plug product were you thinking of? Dynaplug doesn't involve drilling or cause additional damage to the cords. I would try it and see if it holds.

Here's something weird that happened to me. Pulled it out and it wasn't an actual puncture, no loss of air and no problems!

Could you repost your pictures rkw? All I see are red x's.

I hate to have to buy a new tire when I ruin one. But it is better than doing a repair that may make the tire unsafe. If one crashes the car because of a faulty repair what have you saved?

Today I can see your pictures rkw. Go figure? You were very lucky with that one. I believe that part of the tire has the thickest rubber.

Two weeks ago I had a very similar tire problem. Just 300 miles on my new F1 GSD3's. Pulled out the carpet tack from the same area of the tire & all was well. Phew!!!
