What are your favorite track tires?

Looking around for a good set of track only tires....how about some feedback on what you have used and like....and don't like..

I've been running some Falken RT-615s for the past few months and love them. Awesome grip and a very reasonable price. I don't have much other experience on other competition-style tires so I can't really compare it to others than your typical UHP tire.

Kumho V710 is what i run on the track.. hoosiers may be stickier but they won't last as long.

I run Nitto NT-01 on my Boxster track car and haven't had a reason to try anything else. They are not as fast as Hoosiers based on the opinion of those who know more than I do, but they are cheaper, last longer and are still good even when they are down to slicks. My last set were good for about 8-10 track days. Not until the last day or two were they greasy. If I were racing, I'd get Hoosiers, but for the HPDE Nittos work great.

We've run Hoosier A6's on the kids MCS. We got 3 autocrosses each, with a minimum of 5 runs each. Also several test & Tune autocross days at the local oval as well as some oval track drag racing on one set. The right front just corded late this year. That's probably from the oval track stuff mainly. I'd think a single driver would get a season out of a set of A6's no problem.

If your in the lower run groups, then a set of Sumitomo HTR-Zs. Cheaper and better than Azenis or RS2s. Limited size selection though.

If your in the faster run groups, then a set of Z211s or F200s. Good traction and I get 8 DE weekends out of them.

I've got a full auto-x year and 2 track days on my BFGoodrich R1's and they look like they've just been broken-in. By the looks of them, I'd say I can get another year and a half out of them. And I'm aggressive on those things. They're not the stickiest tires, they're not the longest lasting tires, but they're right in the middle of both of those decisions.

For Autocross, Kumho V710s (215/45/16). For tracks, Toyo RA-1 or R-888 (225/45/15).

I used the BFGoodrich R1 to replace my last Michelin Pilot sport cup.

The wear looks great on the R1's, but I don't expct it to outlast the cup - but the R1 is faster for sure!

Alex, what about a street tire for autox? For those of us that want to learn to drive before moving to an R compound?

The BFGoodrich R1's look like a great tire...goning to price a set of those out. I was also looking the new Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 but haven't been able to get any feedback on these yet.

I am curious, how exactly are the HTZ's better than the Falken's?

I'm a big fan of the Hankook RS2 z212.

I used Toyo RA1 the last couple of seasons and am pleased with those.

I started out with the Hankook RS2 z212's. The lasted so long the tire lost it's grip before the tread was worn. From there it was some V710's that didn't last anywhere near as long and cost twice as much, great grip though. From there it was a set of Hoosiers that lasted one DE weekend. Awesome grip, short life, too spendy for me. Now I have a set of NT-01's and R-888's going back and forth between each. I've been quite happy with either, the price is not bad and they last more than a few weekends if you keep them rotated.

What size wheel are you running?

16's till the NT-01's and R-888's then 17's. Possibly going to sell off the 17" track stuff and move to 15's. Lower cost per tire and a slight gearing advantage with a smaller overall diameter.

Dunlop Z1 Star spec or Bridgestone Re01R are my top picks!

I chunked RT-615s as well as the RS-2s. No issue with the HTR-Zs. Its a tougher tire with at least as much grip.
