Back wheels larger than front on a MINI??
I've been seeing lots of Chrysler Crossfire's in the area lately... they're neat looking cars. But that's not the point. My point is... is it me, or are the back wheels on the Crossfire BIGGER than the ones on the front? Isn't that odd for a production car to have two different size wheels/tires? The rims look at least 2 inches larger on the back than on the front. Could they be?
However, is this possible on a MINI? Has anyone ever done it (put bigger wheels, like say 18"s on the rear and 16"s on the front?) I'm not a "wheel person" so I don't know the performance ramifications of doing such a thing... It probably hinders performance, right? I'm just wondering if it's ever been done on a MINI and if there are pictures...wonder how odd (or cool?) that would look on a MINI.

I looked at one of these while at the dealer for my JEEP repairs recently. Yes, the rears come standard an inch (or two?) larger in the rear--like 19-18 or something; I can't remember. The only thing that I can remember is that the hood on a Crossfire LOOKS REALLY STUPID! Why does it have ridges in it????
On a MINI? I don't know...I think it would look kind of goofy. A 17" rear and a 16" front would probably work, but wouldn't really be that "different" looking.

Many sports cars (I wouldn't say the Crossfire is a sports car) have larger wheels in the rear. My Z06 corvette has 17's in the front and 18's in the rear.

For the Crossfire in both concept car and production car the rears are slightly larger than fronts.
And for the crossfire

Isn't the large back wheels small front wheels setup only for RWD cars? Its usually the muscle cars and other rwd cars that you see do this? Wouldnt it hurt performance on a mini becuase the mini is fwd? maybe for show it would be cool...hmm maybe I'll put my 16" v-spokes on the back of my mini and put my 15" 7 hole wheels on the front

When I had the stock 15" wheels on my mini it had that really cool stance, the front was a little lower then the rear but when I put some 16"s on the stance was a little more even. I want to get some lowering springs so I can get that stance back
please do not stagger the Mini. Stagger is used to generate understeer, making high horsepower cars easier to handle for "non - enthusiats drivers" Its easier to bring a rwd back with a stagger than one size all the way around. If you wish to feel this, raise front inflation pressure, and drop rear pressures. Not advisable.
