KONI Vs. H&R Coil overs
Hi everyone,
So I recently changed my tires and got some Bridgestone SO3 215/45/17s on my stock R90s. Mini looks amazing, but when I loaded 3 other people in the car, I noticed some rubbing. Since I was planning on doing some suspension work at some point, I thought that now might be the best time to do that.
Although I am not set on using either Koni or H&R adjustable coil overs (ie i am open to other suggestion like other brands, other systems etc) I've been looking at the KONI and H&R adjustable coil overs.
The main reason for the "upgrade" is to get rid of the occasional rubbing. I do not want to lower the car too much because there are places where my car already hits the ground, so I am looking for a solution that will satisfy this.
The mechanic at Mini did not really offer any help other than telling me off for changing from 205s to 215s, but he said I might be able to put in a spacer at the top of the shock which would lift the back a little and should, in theory, solve the rubbing problem. I've never heard of this so am putting out to see what everyone thinks.
I was also told that adding cambers and fiddling with the angles could help, but that it would also increase the wear on the tires.
I know that other people have had rubbing problems, and I also know that many have put in the same size tires as me (215/45/17) so please help...tell me what you have done or what you would do.
Thanks in advance,
Louay

IMO, can't go wrong with Koni. Coming from an SCCA family, I'm pretty biased.
I think the Koni's use stock type springs. The coilover's you can adjust height without changing the spring.

Inside the Fender lip.
I heard about fender rolling (or something like that) so I think I'm gonna try this first.
Does anyone know if Bilstein is developing PSS 9 for the mini? If so I'll definately hold out for that
