What tire?

02 MCS, I have 18s that i will be using for the summer and have the 17 S-lights for the winter, the tires that are on the s's are shot and so I need something that is an all season but maybe a little better for the winter.

I am in Fargo ND, yes like the movie, no we arent like that, and we get some crazy winters, just need something good but also dont want anything too expensive, been finding some that are around 100 per tire and I like that, suggestions?

^^^I'm in the same boat here. RPF1's for the dry months and factory 5 spokes for winter. Just that those on the 5's are low on tread and should be done before the cold comes back. I'll be here watching this, too.

Firestone Firehawk GTA

I know, you're going, "What?"

Bought my daughter her first car back in March, an '03 VR/W CVT... previous owner had just replaced original tires with some of these.

In 16" size they were only about $80 each. If you're really just looking for a basic, decent tire, these have been surprisingly good. She has 16" white 5-spoke wheels that came on the car.... I drive it a lot and for this situation I don't know that I could have done any better.

FWIW.

Any winter experience with them? That's what I'm looking for.

Winter? in Memphis? doesn't happen. We get some ice every other year or so and the whole area shuts down at the first mention of the word.

Pretty decent in the rain, and the tread pattern looks like it could handle the rough weather pretty well. That's about all I can offer... they're supposed to be good all-weather tires.

You have a lowered suspension.
What size 18" tires are your running?

If you use Stock 17" rims you'll need tires either
205/45-17, 205/40-17 or 215/40-17 which would give more clearance than 215/45-17.

Some good Ultra HP All Season tires worth considering (check sizes)
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS 205/40-17, 215/45-17
Yokohama Advan S.4. 215/45-17
Goodyear eagle F1 All Season 205/45-17, 215/45-17
BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport AS 205/40-17, 215/45-17
Continental ContiExtremeContact 205/40-17, 215/40-17, 215/45-17

Thank you Minihune, for the 18's Im not sure what they are, cant think of it now, i will check later and post it. I am in love with them though.

What about where to buy them, anywhere in specific that would be good, or should I just do a Google and find out where has the best price for right now?

OH yeah, should i look at getting the 215 rather than the 205, concidering whats done to my mini and that i will be switching the tires/wheels for the summer/winter, do i have to do anything different with the 215's?

The tire vendors on NAM are a good place to start-

Tirerack.com see Alex
Edgeracing.com see Leo

215/40-17 is smaller than stock so you get more clearance.
Depends what size tire you have now and if there is much room left.
215/45-17 is taller than stock so not a good idea if you are dropped.
