I had new rotors and pads installed on my mini recently. The fronts are Brembos and rears are zimmermans. They are drilled and slotted. I am using EBC green pads on stock calipers. Anyways, I have this ticking sound whenever I apply the brakes. Gets louder, the harder I press the brakes. Sounds kind of like a card through bike spokes. Had some people tell me that this sound is normal for slotted brakes, but that is hard to believe because it's pretty loud. Does anyone know what's causing this and what I can do to get rid of it.
is the noise a tick or a knock? im currently having an issue with knocking as i brake but on only one front rotor. my mechanic says hes had the same issue with brembos and wont use them anymore. im tying to get tire rack to at least exchange the one rotor. well see
It sounds more like a tick. The Brembos are up front and they are not the ones making noise. It's the Zimmermans in the rear making the ticking sound. I was also told that this sound might be the brakes bedding in. Anyone have any suggestions?
I've had slotted & drilled rotors on my MINI for almost a year and have the same thing. It started the day the new brakes went on (last April) and it's still doing it. Apparently, it's just something that sometimes happens. The same rotor and pad combination on other cars doesn't do it.
