Volk GT-N

Hey Nam,

So I'm picking up my wheels tomorrow, finally! I can barely wait, so they are going to be Volk GT-N 7" and at a +33 offset, tire size I chose will be 205/35/18. What do you guys think, I don't really see many MINIs with Volks on them, the weight was pretty good for a 18" so I went for this setup, the only thing I am missing are the hubcentric rings, which I need to find someone to order, also these have the Volk carbon center caps!

Motor On!

I ordered a set of those for Steve at Steve's auto clinic about a year ago. Took 6 months to get the damn things and he sells them off his car in about a week LOL . Check with Mackin Industires for those hubcentrics. When I bought a set of aluminum for my Volks and they also had them in nylon as well.

Why did Steve sell them, also whats the turnaround time for the rings, I need them by Saturday for the thing Euro GTG I was telling you about! Nylon>Aluminum or which would you say? Also how was the look of the GT-N on the car?

If you knew steve you would not be surprised. He is a HO and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Someone made an offer he couldn't refuse. I must admit I did the same thing with my LT -37's. They looked great on his car . He has a red MCS and the wheels were a light silver with polished lip. He sold them so fast I never even got a picture of them. The rings may be in stock and as Mackin is the US distributer for Volk they will know exactly what you need. I went for the aluminum as the Volks were my track set and would be changed often. If you do not plan on removing them a great deal the nylon should be fine . I am using nylon with my Ro-Ja's as I gave my metal ones to the guy that bought the wheels and I have had no problems. On a side note the center caps of the Volk are trick as hell aren't they ?

I got them in a gunmetal color, I plan on figuring out the deal with the rings soon, how much are aluminum ones, TWS (The Wheel Supply) told me the rings were $22-$25 for a set, what materials would those be made of?

To be honest I have no idea how much they are by themselves as they included them in the deal when i first bought them. Either material will work for you . If you were building a full on track car and expected to have really high brake temps the aluminum would make sence . I've gotten the nylon hot on normal track days with no issues.

Get aluminum. I ordered rings for my Volks directly from Alex @ Tirerack for a really great price. Outer diameter SHOULD be 65mm. I think I got them for about $6 or 7/each. He will probably send you the ones for the SSR rims which are super nice. I also have two sets of extras from Mackin and they look like they are just cut from a pipe (theres nothing wrong with that, but for the money and convenience I'd just talk to Alex at Tirerack)

Tire rack could be a good source but just make sure you have both the ID and OD measurments perfect . Remember there is no real weight on the rings they are just there to center the wheel perfectly while you torque them down .

Got the aluminum ones at Tire Rack for like $28 Shipped for my old SSR's, seemed fine to me.

Patiently awaiting pics. About time you bought wheels you've been searching for like a year now lol

Great wheels but expensive. I had GT-C's on another car and GT-C knockoffs on my 02 MCS ( pics in my gallery if anyone is interested) but 205/35/18's????? is that a typo? Are yours GT-N's like these I believe this is Gun metal , looking forward to seeing pics

BTW Do you still have the R98 webspokes?? Wanna sell em?

I'm a fan of the GT-V and GT-U more, but GT-N's are nice. I had 20x8.5" GT-Force last year, but Mackin f'ed up and sent me the wrong BP. I have 18x9 LE37T coming for that vehicle (not a MINI).

Keep in mind....GT series are two piece and don't work with TPMS (for the unlucky R56 set)

I typed it quite fast that night, it's actually a 215/35/18 on a 18x8x7.5" wheel at a +44 offset! They are the gunmetal color in those pics yep!

I thought a offsett of 33 was unique to say the least but I didn't want to cause any waves LOL . They will look sharp. Post up some photos when you can.

Offset at +44 won't rub right and will fit correct?

be sure to use some anti-seize on them. plastic can melt, but aluminum can bond to the hubs through corrosion
