Rota replicas of BBS LMs

these are on the X5 project car of the owner of Rota. these only come in 19s and 5x120 at the moment, contacted him a while ago about the possibility of having these in 17" for our beloved Minis. he said he may entertain the idea of making the mold for the 17s if there is a sizable interest in NAM.

whatya guys think?

17x7 with +42 offset
17x8 with +38 offset (use 235/40-17 tire)

Rota seems to favor these sizes for 4x100 based on existing wheels that fit the MINI-
17x7.5 +40 or 45 offset
17x8.5 +40 offset

4x100 bolt pattern would fit the MINI, Miata, Honda Fit and more.

Good looking wheel. In 17" I'd guess about 18-19 lbs per wheel. True two piece will cost more. The Rota D2 in 17x 7.5-8.5" runs about $650 to $750 a set shipped. Offsets of +35,40,45,48,50mm.

I'd be all over a set if the weight is right and they are hubcentric or cut for centering rings!!!!

you guys should work with Dan at Mach V Motorsports. He's a vendor here, a Rota dealer and has an R56. I know that he had mentioned Rota making an LM like wheel and he was trying to get an app for the MINI. With confirmed orders, Rota is more likely to make it happen. They are normally very good about responding to customer demand.

17x8 and 17x9 with no higher than a 40 offset would be ideal.

Would they consider doing a run of 18s, I bet a couple of people here on NAM would be interested.

Rota makes a few 18" wheels but not many options-
18x7.5 +45 offset (about $700 shipped)

These wheels are nice. I think they would look even nicer with a black center, and just the lip polished.

How wide would the lip be for the MINI application? It seems like the wheels you see on MINIs never have a very deep dish, except for ones like Rally has, but then you have to go with stretched tires to help avoid rubbing. I really want a nice deep dish wheel, say 7.5" where I can run 215/45 17 tires. Is this possible?

Unfortunately...if you want to avoid running stretched tires, there isn't much hope for deep dish. In order to get a truly deep dish, you need wide wheels (8+) and you need low offsets. You don't have to go as aggressive as I've gone to get lip...but the lower offsets do lead to rubbing issues if you don't stretch the tires.

To run a 7.5" wheel with 215's you're looking at an offset near 40mm and that leaves very little room for any amount of dish.

That sucks. I really like the look of stretched tires, but I like to run hard & fast. BTW, you have the dopest wheels around, I love those things.

I'd be surprised if Rota would make an LM rep after BBS recently sued another maker of LM reps.

They only sued them because they were using a name that suggest they were the real things (BB5 Lemans)....not due to the design similarities (unfortunately). My guess is that rota has named them something slightly different than LM (le mans) as they do with all their replica wheels.

Thanks Jahmills
