Opinion needed...

Hi,

I recently got my hands on a set of original GP wheels but they were not very well looked after. Had some curb damage and seeing that its quite difficult to get the original finish and opted to spray the rims black.. Now I need to decide whether it looks good or bad... Opinions? Please excuse the filthy car..

I would do that with my DS R56. Your combo looks great and your friend's shop appears to have done a fine job.

Pictures are very good.

What condition is the polish part in? Would be interesting to see a little more contrast with them. But I am a fan of black on black. (click the sig to see why )

I'll be the voice of dissent. Does absolutely nothing for me. The shiny black of the wheels is being washed out by the shiny black of the car and vice versa. The whole look is screaming for some contrast. Flat black on the wheels might work better.

I gotta agree with goaljnky. I'm always a fan of flat black > gloss black for wheels.

Still looks decent. (Car overall is hot!) I'm not a fan of 18"s either, so take that into consideration too.

Actually my instructions to my friend was to paint them flat black but he had already sprayed them gloss black...

Thanks for the honest opinions guys!

As a Jet Black owner as well, I think the black GP wheels look alright. To me, the fact that you haven't painted your aches makes the glossy wheels acceptable because it provides some contrast. If you had painted arches too, I think as Goaljnky stated, there would be no contrast at all. How about a contrasting pin stripe on the tire or rim? LOL.

For those that don't remember what the original GP wheels look like, here's one that I worked on last year. I think you are missing some of that contrast too.
