Talk me out of Team Dynamics 1.2's

I'm about to buy wheels and I want to make the right decision. I'm looking at the TD 17x7's in black and want a final opinion. Thanks.

Well, I love my TD Pro Race 1's and it is my understanding that the PR 1.2's are the exact same spec with a slightly different machined edge.

Just to make sure, you are familiar with the black TD PR 1.2's with the polished lip in 17x7, 45mm offset? Sick looking lightweight wheel for a great price!

those are some HOT wheels! i was about to get them but then i found out they werent compatible with the direct TPMS.

I believe you can get them without the polished lip... which would be my choice as well.

I ended up going with the Konig Feathers.

I heard TDR PR1.2's are going to be being modified by the company to accept TPMS.

If you are going to go with a black rim, that would be the one to get. I just about ordered them, bust nostalga set in and I went with 15" Gunmetal Rota RB's.... (i was looking at 15" TDRs too...)

The 1.2's are supposed to be compatible any day now (maybe now?). They told me when I order make sure I say TPMS compatible and it would arrive on time.

You're not kidding. A LOT more money, but possibly/probably worth it. I just wish they'd be out already. Thanks for the reminder (oh the pain).

The BIG "IF" for me is the bent/domed spokes (hopefully looks as good as the photo with our high offset). The price/weight of the PR 1 / 1.2 is almost un-beatable, but it is semi-played out here - for good reason though.

I've almost pulled the trigger on the TD's numerous times.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on these wheels a few weeks back. Decided to go another route however, after seeing them in person. They just don't really do much for me. On the right MINI they can look sweet though. Also they're a very proven wheel. I suppose that can translate to them being 'played out' in a sense...

Well, I live in Louisiana. And while there are a bunch of mini's here to some extent, there's fat chance of ANYTHING being played out.

Even in the pretty large city I am in - Phoenix - I don't see many NAM'ers let alone MINI's with Team Dynamics. I have a better chance of running into an Elise/Exige with them.

+1, that's why it always confused me so much when people complain of a certain part being played out. Granted I seldom see MINIs in my area, so it's harder for me to imagine.

I love the look of Aarons OutMotoring R56. The polished edge helps define the wheel size. Sometimes with all black wheels its hard to see where the wheel ends and the tires begin.

just go black
TDR 1.2 just got uglier... over the 1 version for sure tho..
so if you can get the pro 1s, go with em if not, stick with 1.2 black

and either way, you will be riding on the wheel that 3 out of 4 minis do too.. aka, played outtttttttt

I live in the bay area where there are bunches of mini's everywhere. Not too many have aftermarket rims, and if they do, most of them are ROTA's. Even with all the performance cars around here, I rarely ever see team dynamics wheels. Heck, even the old beetle down my street has rota rb's.

Well, they'd be the first TD's I've seen on a mini, so I guess I want to be "played out".

Well you missed me then. Rocking the black 1.2s in SF.

Light, strong and cheap will never be played out. Unless you're just a fashion poseur. In which case you would be played out.

The TD and the Kosei K1 are probably some of the only "Cheap, Light, Durable" wheels out there. I can't think of many others.

I think the TD 17x7's are hot but ghosthound you said they arn't compatible with direct TPMS. Is that for r56 or r53? i am sorta confused. I was really under the impression that the r56's TPMS was in the valve stem?
