How do I change color of wheels?

I just bought an 06 mini with the R99's on it in the anthracite color. I am not a fan of the dark wheels. Is there a way to have them changes to the silver color and if so where would I go to have it done. Is this something that is pretty expensive to do?

You might be seeing these for sale soon if changing them isn't an option

You can definitely get them refinished, but I wouldn't. The anthracite R99 is a gorgeous oem wheel with good demand in the "secondary market." Get yourself a set of aftermarket rims you like and sell the R99s... to me... for 10 Dollah all 4!

Sell them and get something lighter colored if you want.

Most of us like the anthracite and it shows less brake dust anyway- a very nice feature.

I would venture to say the R99 has the highest demand:supply ratio. When they come for sale (not very often) they are bought up immediately. Other popular wheels such as the R90 sit for much longer because they appear 2nd hand a lot more.

"Many" would be a better choice of word than "most".

Many of us prefer silver colored wheels too.

Thanks guys! If I decide I don't like them after having the car, I'll just put them up on the market forum.

Sorry tazio, they might be a little more then 10...

The only reason I was thinking about changing the color, is that I also like the R99's, but like MANY, I like silver

Dude

If you like the wheels and want them a different color do what I did, get them powdercoated and clearcoated, about $300 and if they are as popular as folks say, then you can sell them and they can be re-powdercoated.

To change the color of your wheels go here: http://www.wheeltechniques.com/Default.htm

They mount and balance also. About 125.00 per wheel. And yes they do very nice work!

Hope this helps...

any wheel repair shop can do it.... even body shops, actually if you
want just paint.

www.wheelsamerica.com
www.wheelcollision.com

or just do it yourself using wheel paints.

I vote for leaving them on for a while to see if you get used to them. You have no idea how nice it is to not have to wash your rims weekly because of brake dust. My wife made the mistake of wiping her finger on one of my rims because she thought I had scuffed it and her finger was soot black. I hadn't washed them in 3 weeks, she couldn't tell the difference, LOL. Thats a huge difference from my R53 that had white rims, heh.
