Is there a solution?

I have an issue with the two rear tires on my wife's cabrio. She has cupping on the inside edge of her relatively new tires. Now the reason for the cupping was resolved (a bent frame peice related to an old accident) but I need to know how to or if the tires can be fixed.

The cupping is not so deep as to be obvious, but it does create allot of tire noise. Since these are Goodyear F1s I really don't want to get new tires... so I have a couple of questions:
1. Will this resolve itself since the suspension and alignment were fixed or will it get worse?
2. If not, can/should the tires be shaved to eliminate the cupping (there is about 90% tread left, if we shaved it would drop to 75+)?
3 If the tires can be shaved, is there a way to do this at home?

I would think they would get a little better after the wear pattern changes now the repairs have been made but whats done is done. They wont last as long as they should have but you should still get some miles out of them.

Even if you dismounted the tires to be used on the opposite side of the car, I don't think it would help as the suspension is now correctly aligned. Personally, I'd just let them wear "as is" and hope they even out a little bit as time progresses.

1. It shouldn't get worse, but not sure if it will get better
2. They only shave new tires - used ones are a no-no as any debris in them would trash the cutters.

What if you did a lot of hard cornering and wore them down a bit. Would that help smooth them out?

Are you sure? my thought process is that we have created an uneven surface that is creating vibration (noise) which could potentially make the issue worse.... I could be wrong

I am going to a shop tomorrow for an evaluation... they know it is a used tire... it is actually a truck tire place and they say they can do it.....

Interesting. I looked into getting an out of round tire shaved and my local shop said it was a no-go for the stated reason.
Hopefully they can help you out!

noisy tires will only get worse. especially the GS-D3's, they will get
very noisy like the S03's by the time they are 50% worn.

basically you only get one chance to extend lower noise tires.

I don't necessarily agree. I went thru one set on my car and only got noisy when i hit the wear bars, which was at roughly 30K miles....I am on my second set and they are quiet...the third set I bought is on my wife's car.
