16" wheels

I'm seriously thinking about chucking my run flats and 17" wheels for 16" wheels and non-run flats (probably high performance summer rubber). I'm planning on mounting snows on my 17" wheels.

I'm tired of the rough ride on the Chicago area's potholed roads. I really get some good hits.

Has anyone moved to 16" non-run flats? Any thoughts on tires?

Rota 16x7 with Nito Neo Gen 205/50/16/'s. LOVE THEM ! Wheels weight 13.5. The performance is awesome and the ride over stock run flats is night and day.

I am running 16" OZ Ultraleggeras with 205/50/16 General UHP Exclaims, a lightweight combination which provides a major handling upgrade over the OEM Bridgespokes and Runflats. The standard suspension works significantly better with this setup, which trims about 12 pounds from each corner.

I sold the 17" S-Lites and runflats with my '02 MC and put on 16" Superleggeras with Goodyear F1 GS-D3 215/40WR16 tires. Love 'em.

Wheels sitting still.

Wheels in motion.

I also use the 16" MINI 5 star wheels that came from the '02 MC with Falken Azzinis for autocross and track. The Azzinis combined with an H-Comp rear sway is enough to cause a bit of wheel lift.

I've got my snows mounted on 15" MINI take-offs. Works well for me!

i have been using 205/45R16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires on 16x7 rota slipstreams et40
i am very happy with them other than the softer sidewall when compared to runflats, but the ride and grip are a ton better
i also have stock suspension (cept for an SS+ rear bar)

I just put on a set of Sportmax 039 16x7 et40 and Falken 912s on the 07 MCS.

So far, all is good. This is my winter setup, ride is very smooth and nice. The 17s with RFs are stored until late Spring. I like the new ride.

I figure UHP on the 17s this summer or when I get real sick of the Dunlops.

I'm in Chicago, and running the same wheels and tires as Paulie... So far so good for all of the bad roads that I've encountered for the past few months! The tires also did very well for me up at Road America for 35 laps (4.1 miles per lap). I'll be swapping to 15" wheels and all seasons for the winter, though.

I bought a set of Hankook R-S2 205/50-16s in Discount Tire's latest big sale. I plan on purchasing a set of Enkei RF-P1s in the near future, and relegating my OEM 16" to winter duty.
16's are a great compromise.
