I just installed on my GP the Stoptech BBK with 8mm spacers in order to stop the tires touching the thicker Strut of the M7 coilovers. The car is lowered with negative 2 camber front and rear, its real tight, lucky thing there's no back seats.
SSR type C RS 17x7.5 wheels with BF Goodrich g-force T/A KDW 215/45ZR17 tires. The wheel offset is 42

This is a nicely compiled list but it may be a bit misleading in a way.

Without looking at the template needs for each kit and comparing them we're listing them by manufacture and not by clearance. That would lead one to believe there are less choices for one kit over another, or another.

What clears a Stoptech kit for example will clear either of the TCE13" kits. What clears a Wilwood factory 12.2" kit (TCE Plus 2) will most likely clear the Detroit Tuned. As well as all those wheels that cleared the Stoptechs.

Actually I created a huge spread sheet on all of this- and much more technical data, years ago. Not sure if I can find it or not but I'd suggest the list be populated by "caliper overhang". That way you'd see what space is needed for each kit rather than how someone made them work with spacers.

Also note that some templates include air gaps, others do not for cut out or fit purposes.

BTW: Wilwood factory templates

12.2- http://www.wilwood.com/PDF/ds490.pdf

This is a huge concern of mine. A list like this is not only a huge undertaking but also a liability in several fashions. People may mistake the wheels listed as the only ones that will fit a certain kit... also just as you said the lack of responses may make people think that a certain kit has less fitment.

I'm not quite sure what to do about this... but I will tell you that as a consumer with a big brake kit... shopping for wheels is very very hard.

I guess I'll brain storm and come up with something. Maybe we could slide a post in under the main one that discusses profiles from caliper to caliper?

A thought here might be to list the "Big Brake Friendly" wheels on the market and list what spacer is required then for each BBK option. Kinda coming at it from the other side maybe?

I'm good with the idea and thought here, I just don't want folks to get the impression that one kit or another has limited wheel choices over the other due to lack of posts by customers or what spacer is needed. For example a ST kit with 8mm spacers may use the same wheel and no spacer with a DT kit or a 3mm spacer is needed on a Wilwood factory kit.

Personally I think (admitedly partially a business decision here) that you should list the caliper body over hang of each kit based on the templates or data supplied. Then list the normal spacing of common wheels used perhaps so someone can calculate the required spacer (or close) that they'll need for the wheel options.

So far you have brake kit sizing info for about ten kits I think so line them up on sizing order. Don't forget to add the Porsche kit, the Torax and any other lesser known kits also for equal air time.

I tried 5mm spacers today instead of 8mm, it's close but no rubbing on the struts

Urban myth help or other options

I have the wilwood plus 3 and understand that an OZ ultralegga (sp ?) 16" will fit.??? IS THIS TRUE ?

I am after info on any 16" that may fit.

I do auto-x and a 215/40 16 is only 22.4" tall (8.5 tread width)
or a 234/40 17 is 24.2 tall (but 9.5 wide)

Cant really figure out if a tire that much shorter BUT 1' narrower is better ?:impatient

S-Lites & TCE Plus1 Wilwood BBK

Does anyone know if stock S-lites will clear the 11.75"x.81" TCE Wilwood kit?

If not what spacer would I need?

Thanks

No kits clear this wheel that I'm aware of. Poor wheel design.

I just fit an S-lite tonight for another NAM-er, so here is my new post from above along with an additonal S-lite fitting:

Wilwood 11.5" rotor kit:

- 16x6.5 Rota Slipstreams fit with a 12mm spacer - The 5mm spacers weren't enough (agranger)
- S-Lites: Barely fit with a 5mm spacer, but 7-8mm STRONGLY recommended (agranger)
