R83 5 star Wheel on R56 MINI COOPER S! it does work.

Hello,

There have been lots of people saying some wheels fit and some wheels do not on the new R56S since the brakes are bigger, also some people say the bolts fit or the bolts do not fit inside the older wheels.

I have seen postings that the R83 and the R84 wheel do not fit on the cooper S, and that the R94 and the R102's are the only ones that fit.

The truth about the R83 star wheels.

They clear the front brakes with no issues what so ever.

please see pics below.

These are my winter wheels now, and have 1 year old Continental winters on them got them for 400 CND. Keep in mind that if someone used taller wheel weights that could be a issue.

R81 Holey (7 hole) rims are 15x5.5" and much smaller (less caliper clearance) than

R83 5 star rims that are 16x6.5".

They might fit on a cooper but not a cooper S.

minihume - do you think the clearanc shown in these photos is sufficient? any possibility of rubbing over bumps, cornering, etc.?

thanks!

even one mm of clearance is sufficient. The brakes and wheels move together with bumps.

Bhatch,

Any issues down the line from using the R83 wheel on your R56?

I'd also like to know if there were any issues down the line as I'm considering getting some R83s

Thanks!

Thread CPR:

Does anyone know whether this means I can upgrade the front brakes on my R50 Justa to the R56S brakes?

Yes, you can, but the R56 brakes have the rotor that takes the larger new 14mm lug bolt not the older 12mm bolt like yours does.

see
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...cw-brakes.html

You might try to contact Way at Way motor works and ask about using a JCW front brake from a R53 on your R50, that way you use 12mm bolts.

That is sure to fit and is an upgrade for you. Stock rear brakes are OK to keep.

Otherwise you can also consider Wilwood brakes for the fronts that come in various sizes.
