Wheel Decision Help

Ok, I have 2 wheels in mind. Konig Supermesh or Drag DR16 both in gold to go on my BRG/W. I had the DR16 on my BRG Miata and I loved em. Pretty light. Lighter than the Rota GT3 by 4 oz and they held up well. I really like the Supermesh, but I can't get confirmation whether they will fit over the R56 brakes. I don't want to go to 17". Trying to stay at 16" with 215/50 for tires. I like the meaty look. I am going to post in the local forums to see if someone in town has the Supermesh for me to test fit, but that discount tire deal going on would get me the DR16 with tires for $622 shipped. Which does everyone like better. Would you wait for a test fit or jump on the deal that you know would fit. Here are pics of the 2 wheels:

Supermesh

DR16

Car that one will go on

What do you guys think?

The drag come in 15". Had them on my Miata in that size. I do like the Supermesh a little better, but don't want to have to do a lot to make them fit.

Kind of an unfair comparisonn because the top image is a photo and the other is a computer rendering. The photo looks crisper. Hard to judge the quality of the other wheel.

IMO, the supermesh wheel style looks a little fussy on the MINI. Of the other wheel is good quality finish, I'd go with it.

I too am interested the the Drag wheels, not that model, but from what I know and have heard, 15" will not fit on the 2007's! Dang, so now I am looking at 16".

Besides that, I love your choice on the Drag's!!! I really don't like that style of look that are on the Konig's and every other company out there. Personally, it's getting too "stock" looking.

Discount Tire has a money-back guarantee. I'd say order what you want and if it doesn't fit, return them. Be sure to read the fine print...I'm sure you won't be refunded shipping them back.

I'm considering some Drag mesh wheels for my winter set. Hard to beat the price and they look nice, at least online. 16" would be better, but I'll probably end up with 17" just because

My purely cosmetic opinion... Supermeshes all the way the DR16's look plain Jane in comparison but I am a bit flashy myself

I don't know if Discount tire can get the supermesh. I know they deal with Konig, but the only place i have seen that sell the sepermesh is JLBMotorsports, and they can't confirm fitment over the 07 brakes.

They are both from the same type quality of company......Konig, Drag, Rota, etc are all part of the cheaper import tuner wheel "genre".

I say supermesh You're gonna have to be careful though.....the fitment might not work with your large front brakes. On the r50/53 i heard of the 15" supermesh's not fitting over the brakes even though 15's generally fit on the first gen MINI's.......so maybe the design isn't the best for running on bigger brakes.

I am looking for 16". I think everyone is getting confused because one poster asked about 15". Even with 16" I am still a little worried about the supermesh fitment. I chatted with the guy from m|u that has the supermesh on his 06, and he said he didn't have much clearance on the older brakes. I just don't know how close it will be. This is racking my brain.

Yah....i meant 16's too. The 15's didn't clear the brakes that generally fit 15's.....now i think with the r56, the 16's won't clear the brakes that generally fit 16's. Or atleast that's what i was worried about.....i dont know one way or the other.....i just know that they are tight fitting wheels to begin with.

From what I can tell it is because of how far back the spokes curve. I could probably get around it with a spacer, but then i don't know if the tires I want to run would rub or not since I am lowered. I may just got with the Drags because I had them before and like the quality, my gf likes them better, and I can get them with the tires I want for $622 shipped with the discount tire deal that is going on.

215/50/16. I want keep overall dia. spot on. Spacer I don't know. It would depend what I needed to make it fit. 3 or 5 mm, only on the front.

Both of those look good. However, the big issue that you should think about is the ease of cleaning. Especially when the weather sucks, you aren't going to want to be out there cleaning those supermesh. I have the stock webspokes, and while they look good, they are a total pain in the butt to clean. In fact, it takes me longer to properly wash the four wheels than it does to do the wash dry and vacuum the rest of the car. Generally, I feel that if your wheels look good, the rest of the car looks good especially with the BRG which I have also. For that reason, I am thinking of going with the Konig Britelites especially for the winter months.

So, longewindedness aside, don't go for the supermesh even though they do look good!

Well I have a garage with a nice fan and tv. Dont' mind the cleaning. I am leaning towards the Drag more and more just because I don't want to deal with any fitment issues, and I think they both look good. The Drags might even be a more classic look.

Supermesh +1. Space them out 5mm if you have to. Much nicer looking wheel IMO.

Supermesh. I don't trust Drag finish. . . skeptical. If you like that style, I would suggest the Rota GT3. More reputable company. But whatever you do stay with the gold!

Oh, and space evenly all the way around. 5 or 8mm spacers . Those R56s have a lot of wheels well to fill. . .

stupid pricing at discounttire.com through Sat. $100 off four wheels and $100 off four tires...might be worth jumping on something in case you are on the fence
