cool! yeh, wheelmax is known for wheel balancing problems...
as long as you get it rebalanced using a hunter machine, should be
just fine.

Well they looks sweet (so sweet I got a motoring citation on my car today) however I just came back from spending 7 hours at goodyear. The rebalanced the tires (with teh roadforce machine) stripped the slines on the lug socket and now one wheels is stuck on the car (ran to a store and got a stud conversion kit so they could put the other three back on) and the steering wheels is still vibrating. Wheels will be going back (as soon as I can get them off). And now I am about $300 poorer for the cost of having my tires mounted on the wheels and having them balanced twice.

sorry to hear that, those wheels look great on your car...

the vibration is pretty normal i hear... at least for me when i first put on the 17s a year and half ago i had bad vibrations, had my wheels balanced 3 times, but turns out it was all just my imagination.... a friend of mine took it out and he told me it was no problem....

i guess as long as it is not very bad it should be alright

there should be no vibration that you can feel through the steering wheel
unless it's direct feedback of the road surface that has some kind of irregularities.

I hate to see this thread get to be such a gossip column, but it's too far now anyway (There should be a thread with just single posts of wheels with no resonses...)...................................

Could that be a problem with the way the wheel is seating on the hub because it is not hubcentric? maybe different rings? If it is an issue, I may want to look at wheels with the correct bore to avoid problems.

Oh, and good luck, meg,

-Steve

Thanks guys for the advice. The wheels do have the centering rings on them, and the vibration isn't my imagination. It's so bad when you hold the steering wheel with one hand your whole arm moves. My boyfriend drove the car (he has a MINI too) and he noticed as well.
The wheels do look awesome, and my parents got a really great deal on them, but unfortunately looks like they aren't gonna work out for me.

Dunno if anyone mentioned it, but if you haven't already, I'd have the alignment checked.

I got the stock 17" MCS with run flats and trying to decide which way am going to go.... thought about going smaller or staying at 17's.
What offset should I go after for 16's or 17's

My New Rotas

Here is a pic of my new 16" Royal Gunmetal Rota Subzeros. I had to replace the runflats after an unfortunate mishap with a traffic island burried under the snow.

They came with the wheels and are already on...I just think there is something wrong with the wheels and unfortunately it was the last set they had of them.

some wheels are like that...they just come out as defects and never
balance correctly. there are tires that are like that too, so it could be
either. but the store should be able to detect that before it leaves
their door.

that really sucks that they won't absorb the shipping costs.
I would return it, get what Wheelmax would claim to give you back,
then dispute the freight with your credit card company that wheelmax
is liable for not checking the wheel before it left their warehouse for
defects.

Well my dad has already started the return process. He is going to demand they he give him a full refund and that they send UPS tags to send the wheels back. We are also going to fight with them to cover some of the $300 I laid out in trying to get these wheels to work right. If not he says we'll dispute it with the credit card company (although I hope it doesn't come to that).

Don't rule out a bad tire or two ...

A tire shop should be able to remove the tires and check your wheels for any runout or out of roundness. If they're good, then check the tires very closely. Good luck.

Thanks for the advise but the tires are only like 2 months old and were fine when mounted on my S-lites.

Here's a link to Rota's availability:

http://www.rotawheel.com/AVAILABILITY.htm

Looks like they have gold, white, and royal bronze in stock. 17 x 7.5 (4x100)
I think 18racing.com is who they direct retail through. If you call Rota, they direct you to them.
