Bluecoop, that pic really brings back the memories! I saw it in a wheel ad in a VERY old Car & Driver issue. That was before I was old enough to driver! Do you have that on your car?

Yes they are classic old skool wheels from Ronal and no I don't have them on my MINI.
At one time that was the cheapest 16" wheel Tirerack sold, I was thinking of getting one as a full sized spare for shawn. (It wouldn't suit him, it'd only be for use in emergencies.)
Is there any benefit to you or I by ordering from you as opposed to me ordering a set of tires from a supplier that is buying them directly from Tire Rack?
When you order directly with me, its support NAM's advertizing costs, and compensates me directly - being on 100% commission I appreciate that!
I know they're OEM wheels, but those Challenge wheels look great IMHO. I'll have to run through this thread when I have some time and see if they appear on the R53 anywhere... though I agree that 18s are a bit much for most R53s. (Henry, if you're reading this, yours is one of the exceptions).
Alex is great - even if it's financially a wash, his advice is spot-on, good work.

Alex also takes good care of you after the sale. I've ordered two sets of tires and a set of wheels from him, and he has followed up with any concerns/issues/questions I had.
I would order from him even if it cost me a few extra bucks.
Man those wheels look great - how would you rate the difference so far going from 16" to 17" - keeping in mind you had runflats on there previously!
Too few miles yet to tell. Mixed to date. I think they are a little less noisy. Handling seems as good or better in turns (haven't really pushed it yet). I need to check air pressure in morning when tires are cold because my mileage seems to have dropped about 10%, but this could be me testing the tires
I think I am hyper sensitive to differences right now, so I'm trying to be cautious in my evaluation.
I did push them to 85 last night for a bit on the freeway and they seemed fine (for a while the "different" ride had me wondering if I had a tire slightly unbalanced).
I unfortunately had ordered them sight unseen (in terms of in person, only using the web based preview tool) and when I first saw them unmounted I was very afraid I would not like them. But on the car I do think they look good. Of course my wife is "Oh, those are them? If you like them, that's cool" -- a real positive endorsement
I did pick up my Slime kit with its compressor at Big Lots for $20, and I have the tire plug repair tool on order from Amazon.
But back to your question on 16" to 17", I think ditching run flats gives better ride and larger tires give worse ride = about the same ride, but different. Time will tell if this opinion changes.
