are HRE's known to bend easily?

like potato chips. they're not meant to drive on, only to make your car look good in the driveway.

17" Drag DR-12 with 205/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1

Well, just got mine mounted up. I had a hard time deciding what rim to get. I started looking almost immediately after I bought the car. I was going to get the ASA AR2 but the day I decided to buy they sold out. My next pick was the Drag DR-12. I wanted to stay with the stock size rim and tire, so these are 17" with 205/45/17 Goodyear Eagle F1's. Took care of my alignment issues, and the vibrations I was getting at about 50-60 MPH.

I thought I might save more weight, but that wasn't really something I was looking at when shopping. These will be my 'all around' rims. If I decide to start AutoX again, I will shop for a light rim. I weighed the old S-lite/tire (I did these measurements on a bathroom scale) and it came up with 46lbs. The new combo was 44lbs.

Sorry she's dirty :(

But potato chips don't bend.

From what I've seen they do bend relatively (read: potholes, etc.) easy though

They look sweet Gnat. You gotta slam that sucker for daily driving.

i've had my HRE's on for a couple of years now......no bending problems dispite a bone-jarring set-up (lots'a heim joints, stiff coilovers, psrs, etc) and low profile 35 series tires. frankly i'd be disappointed and pissed if they bent under any street scenario short of a wreck....

gnatster: they look great. i seriously considered that model before deciding on the 447R's. i take nathan and the HRE's over for $500. just because he keeps these, doesn't mean that he cannot buy others...

Those do look nice. We should start a Gantster's Old Wheel Club.
New pic at a track after playing Collin McRae down a dirt road to get there.

I love the black center with polished rim combo.

So you're only shaving 2 lb off each corner? So if the S-lite is at 25 lb, this means DR-12 is about 23 lb (roughly, as the tire wights could vary quite drastically between brands).

Wrong! Ive had 2 sets of HRE'S, this set on the MINI ive had on the car about a year now with no problems whatsoever. In fact, i think theyre the strongest wheels ive ever owned! I drive quite often through Pot-hole infested NY, and hit many a pot-hole (obviusly the ones i know, i avoid and swerv around) by surprise with no problems Like Bean said, for the $ you pay, they better be strong wheels!!! and they are. Im not saying theyll hold up to agressive track use, but for the street theyre great

the comment was made about how long they'll last. kenchan thought that meant quality, when it was actually meant as how long they'd stay in gnatster's stable.

Besides the Cross Coilovers (dropped about 1/2" front and back, coilovers sit a little lower than stock, so in all the car is dropped about 3/4") I used 5mm H&R spacers and removed the front dust shields (saved some weight)

There are going to be some cutting to be done soon from the top interior lips in the back so the tires don't rub off.
