Quote: anybody have a good source for SportMax wheels (maybe a vendor here?) I'm possibly looking for a set of 20x8.5 and they seem to be hard to track down.
20x8.5 is too wide for a Mini.

You will be only able to find 20x7.5. Unless you go custom multi pc wheels

I prefer to think of my new wheels as cheap and lightweight.

Kosei K1 Racing17x7.5 et 45, 215-45-17 General Exclaim UHP...total weight (wheel and tire) is 34.3 lbs per corner...about 20lbs off my current set up

Not fitted on the car yet, still want to do my IE adjustable control arms and IE adjustable camber plates and go and get an alignment first, then put the new shoes on...but they just got delivered, and I am very impressed with how light they feel.

I like Kosei K1s. It's too bad they're discontinuing this light, good looking wheel.

Hmm... previous pic isn't the same. There were more spokes.

These definitely look the same though.

Question, are these black or an anthracite charcoal kind of grey?

Ya, gotcha. Sure looks the same in the 4 lug.

Colors look the same as well in gunmetal.

I ordered Winter Black and they're definitely an anthracite / charcoal kind of grey. Probably ... gunmetal.

So not happy right now.

Actually placed one of the rims next to the car and gunmetal / anthracite grey / Uber grey ... whatever it is ... just isn't working.

The car needs black rims.

Gonna need to return these it looks like.

Oh well... the search continues.

Quote: Sportmax makes the eight spoke for 4-bolt applications and 10 spoke for 5 bolt applications. The Uber wheels are Sportmax wheels.

http://www.sportmaxwheel.com/sportmax_003.shtml#

Mouse over the wheels and it will show you the difference in the spokes and bolt pattern. The wheel description text to the left of the images also explains this.

Looks great Dean!
After thinking about this for weeks and months, i finally ordered these from TireRack this morning. I should have them on for the weekend. By the way, did you happen to ask about lug-locks for these wheels ? I tryed ordering a set for my new AR1's and Bruno at Tire rack said McGard doesnt list nor do they stock a lockset for these wheels. Oh well .
But i love the Mesh look. Gives the car even more of that Euro look!

Thanks !

I thought about these wheels for a long time and actually bought them before I picked up the car, which still doesn't even have 200 miles on it yet. I was able to find enough pictures of them on NAM to be sure I would like them. I didn't ask about lug-locks.

can you get a closer up shot of the rims? I seriously wanted these, but the finish is such a bright silver, they almost look chrome. I have seen a ton of other pics here on NAM, but curious as to how they look in detail. Maybe a day time shot.

I ended up going with a light weight option, as I still have my s-heavies if I am interested in that style.

nice, you will like the Parada Spec 2, very sticky, great response, but heavy as a tire....and after about 5K miles, the noise will be mind numbing

I have about 10K miles on my Paradas.....could not stand it anymore, so I made my switch to new rims and tires. In your size, the Prada is 23lbs per tire, right in the middle to upper end of tire weight in that class. The UHP, not as great of a performer, but decent, weighs in at just 18lbs.

Anyway, great choice on your rims, they look awesome!!!

I had my car dynoed with parada Spec 2's. They thought something was wrong with the car because of the noise from the tires.

I got those same tires coming on my wheels. From what i read, everything was positive and its def a good performer for the price. I didnt realize they'd be noisy though. I have the Yoko AVS100 on my S2000 and they are great, but never seen rain. I needed a all-around good weather/rain tire and from all the reviews they say these are a good all around performer, wet or dry.

the Paradas SUCK in the rain. I only got caught once in the rain, usually the MINI only goes on in fair weather, it is my toy car, and I could not believe the slippage I was getting. I went with the General Exclaim UHP this time around, but also considered the Kumho SPT...but weight and price led me to the UHPs...I wanted quiet, and comfort this go around. The Pradas were unreal with the amount of noise after they wore in a bit. I bet they are the loudest tire on the market....but they are super fun to drive on. As I don't track my car anymore, I opted for something sticky, but quiet.
