Goodyear GS-D3 country of origin

Found some threads on MINI2 discussing inferiority of Goodyear GS-D3 made in Thailand vs. those made in Germany. Not sure if made in Thailand is distributed in U.S., but as I've decided to get GS-D3's for my first non-runflats, I'd rather end up with the German version. Any of you running GS-D3's have ones stamped "Made in Thailand?" or anywhere else but Germany? Particularly interested in those who purchased from Tire Rack since that's most likely where I'm going. Thanks!

Well I wish I had never seen this thread because I just went & looked & mine say MADE IN CHINA. So mine are not German & I can say the Chinese version is distributed in the US. Just one more thing to worry about in life

I checked mine before they were installed to make sure it said "made in Germany". I also read that folks were having problems with the Chinese made GSD3 as well.

the 215/45/17 that Tire Rack ran a stupid cheap special on were the Asian made version. They also had the lower load rating. The 215/45/17 XL was made in Germany. I remember this distinctly because when I sold my ASA wheels with them mounted, I was getting all sorts of lowballers who were comparing the cheaper F1's.

Yeah, just so you know, when I bought my Chinese GS-D3's they were on sale at Tire Rack. I guess I am stupid & naive as I just thought they were just running a sale The phone guy never told me it was because they were Made in China. I have had no trouble out of my tires but now I will be nervous about them

Why Goodyear will stand behind the product no matter what country they are made in

sure, on paper they all look the same...

but then again, i think my AvidH4's that i recently got for my Legacy
were made in the Phillipeans. i don't have an issue with them so far.
will need to inspect them from time to time as my German made
GS-D3's and Japanese made RE050A PP's.

Thanks guys for checking. Hopefully there aren't any significant differences between German and non-German produced GS-D3's, but I'll make sure to ask before I buy.

This is the price we ultimately pay for "Always Low Prices™".

I recently bought a travel trailerIt came with "Mission" tires. Not ever hearing of the brand I did a Google search, with the first several hits being forum discussions on serious safety issues regarding the brand. Blowouts, vehicle damage, etc, the whole nine yards. Trying to find replacements is tough enough, trying to find ones not made in China or some third world country is tough. Goodyear has a brand line "Marathon" geared towards trailers and commercial highway usage. Seems those are now made in China and since been accompanied by quality issues. If the GS-D3 line is now being made in China, I will seek different tires simply because I cannot trust quality control coming out of China. The tires maybe every bit as good or even better than the original German versions, but past experience makes me feel otherwise.

Well if I have a blowout on the Interstate & die in a high speed wreck, Goodyear standing behind my tires isn't gonna do me a whole lot of good though

higher load capacity. That size is common on Subaru's....they need more load capacity than a MINI, thus two versions.

yah, im trying to clean up around the house. i recently starting playing
with my RC cars in the basement and noticed i got a sh*t load of stuff
that's been sleeping down there.

i have a brand new in-a-box SSR GT3 wheel too. 19x8.5. i should
use that as decoration in my garage.

with the new baby coming, i want to get rid of as much stuff as i can
and kinda start fresh (mentally, that is).
