Brake Job question

Getting ready to do a rotor and brake pad replacement on my 03 MCS...pulled the wheel of to see what I was in store for and saw the torx fitting that holds the rotor on...as a test I tried to loosen it but I assume it's frozen/rusted on....any tips on getting this thing off ? Also, can I assume it's a standard left-to-loosen bolt ? thanks

For that torx bolt, you can either be patient and use lots of PB-Blaster / Liquid Wrench / etc. Or, just use / find an air powered impact wrench and break the bolt head off. If the break is clean enough, no damage done. All four of mine have been broken off.

Yeah, just break it. You don't need it. Its only on there so the factory dosen't have to pay someone to hold on the rotor while the wheels go on. I've busted 3 out of 4.

or heat it a bit to loosen it if you have the equipment.

PB Blaster & hit it with an impact. An impact driver with the correct torx bit should do it. When you put them back in use anit-seize.

I just did my brakes on 03 MCS. I'm in SoCal so do not get any salt and little rain. In anticipation of torx screw removal problems, I had been PB blasting them when I would take the wheels off to rotate or whatever. The Torx screws were real easy to remove. If you are in no rush, just PB blast a few times and allow it to work its way in.

I will have to give this a try. I would love to rip those heads off instead of having to drill them. I went after one today with an impact-grade T-50 bit attached to a 1/2 drive socket and destroyed the T-50 bit in seconds. The Torx impression in the bolt head looks unharmed. Even worse, this particular rotor retainer bolt is about two years younger than the other three because I had the hub replaced last year.
