Summer is here and I have a couple of "Track Days" scheduled starting in August. It's time to replace my "dumb flats" on MCS 16" rims. Looking for a great summer tire that has decent tread wear and won't perform badly in my driving schools. I have narrowed it down to 3 finalists (but still open minded):

205/50 16
Bridgestone S-03's, about $138 at the Tire Rack
Yokohama AVS ES100's, about $77 at the Tire Rack

or

215/45 16
Falken Azenis, about $100 at that "other tire place"

These will also be used for my daily commute. I live in Northern Cal., so wet weather performance is not that important to me. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

We have run the Falken Azenis on the street, track and autocross with good results. They aren't an all out racing tire like Hoosiers or Kumhos but they are street driveable. For the money they are hard to beat. The equivalent multi purpose street Kumho model would be the MX. That said the Bridgestone SO-3 or the Toyo Proxes T1-S are both great high performance tires but more $$$.

For the wet conditions in NorCal, I would go with S03s. The Azeni are very grippy but I have heard reports of them turning greasy after several hot laps, and their wet weather performance is suspect.

Thanks Dukesantos and FWD-MX5,
I took a drive last weekend with a friend to play golf in Monterrey in his 996 911 with the S-03's. Even though I wasn't driving, the grip seemed pretty amazing over highway 17 which winds through the Santa Cruz mountains. I have been reading the other thread on this forum on the S-03's which is very positive as well. I have also remembered several threads on the Azenis about the tire being fairly noisy. The only downside that I can see to the S-03's is possibly the treadwear, but again, I realize you can't have it all.
