Put some chili on them fries and you got a deal.

I plan on buying my next set of tires from TR. I have never bought from them, but I will give them a chance.

Attack? is that some lame attempt at social engineering opinions on Al Gores internet.
So because I don't go along with your point of view I'm rude, you just keep thinking like that, your in for a lifetime of rude.
Norm,

Just becuase TireRack is a sponsor of this forum doen't give them a free ride when a customer has somethign go awry. My question was not directed to Alex becuase he was not the salesperson involved in this transaction. I was posting a question to fellow NAM members as to their perspective on orders they had made. There were a number of posts explaining people's happiness, and only a few noting displeasure.

This is a open, so I thought. Why can't I bring up a question about a vendor here? Is this website too sensitive?

I asked a question, members answered it. And most importantly the vendor themselves answered the question. Nowhere did I make blanket statements about TR nor did I make them about you. However, made it a point to INSULT me in your reply to my post. You are the REASON NAM SUCKS these days, either you drink the Kool-AID and follow the party line here or risk being insulted b y the likes of members like you. If this is what NAM has become, I WANT NO PART OF IT....

MODS BAN ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Norm, it's quite possible to question xbook's concerns about TR without resorting to insults. Although I don't think what you said was serious enough to warrant an infraction, I do want you to realize that you could have handled your response better.

I disagree, I don't think the original post was trash talk. It may have been a bit unhappy, but certainly not "trashing" Tire Rack.

Well, keep in mind that xbook may not have been fully aware that we had a dedicated representative at TR. And that is probably where the problem started... Alex should have been the one that handled the order. Still, the fact that xbook may not have been aware of who Alex was shouldn't matter - an order was placed, the service wasn't what was expected, so there is a legimate cause for concern. Alex has very politely responded to explain and offer his assistance.

Yes, attack. Calling someone whiny, saying they are from the school of litigation and telling them to get over themselves all qualify as attacks. I came ->THIS<- close to slapping you with an infraction for that.

Correct - it doesn't. People have the right to post calm, reasonable and well-expressed concerns about ANY Vendor, whether they be NAM sponsors or not.

...and that's fine, but in hindsight, surely you can appreciate that in future you would be better served by dealing with Alex in the first place?

Well, it's not really an "open" forum in every respect. NAM is privately owned and does maintain Site Guidelines which everyone is expected to adhere to. That doesn't mean you can't question a vendor though - of course you can, it's just a question of how it's done, and your original post was not unreasonable... however like I said above, it would be better in future to simply deal with Alex directly when ordering or trying to resolve a concern with TR.

OK, take a chill pill, xbook. One member does not a bad forum make. I want to point out that it's outbursts like yours too that bring down the discourse here. There's a right way and a wrong way to deal with everything, and ranting like that isn't helping.

Xbook,

I've dealt with TR many times without a problem. I've dealt with Alex personally couple of times and I got nothing but for him. That being said, you are my boy. Just say the word and we will conduct a midnight raid on their facilities and burn that place down to the ground. From then on everybody can ride around on them 80,000 mile Pep Boys tires.

Hey, if you want good ole fashioned whine... trade in your R56 for an R53.

(Note: This is not a slam on the R56. I like it too, but I'm not going to trade in my R53 for it. )

Why you got to bring the R56 into it? There is no reason to make this ugly..

haha this thread has been entertaining. I couldn't say it better then edge did.

The moral of the story is... If you have a string to pull at a certain vendor. Shop there and pull the string. I'm pretty confident alex counts as a string at tire rack. Some of us seem to have local strings to pull... etc you get the picture.

It was a light-hearted joke, and my note clarified that - nothing ugly about it. The R56 doesn't whine. It's not a slam, it's a basic fact accepted by ALL MINI owners, regardless of preferences.

I half suspect that goaljnky's post was a tongue-in-cheek slam on the "ugly" R56. It could be read that way.

disclaimer: The above opinion is not meant to call the R56 ugly - just referring to past discussions regarding some people's negative opinions regarding the R56's styling.

Alex is a great guy to deal with and I’m glad we have him here representing TR.
As to your post, have you read it back to yourself?. It makes you sound whiny and unreasonable with some perverted form of extortion going on. You sound like you’re from the school Class of Litigation.
We don’t see eye to eye or seem to be in agreement about what constitutes good service and a freaking 2nd party shipping error.
Get over yourself Skipper, if you’re not happy take your business somewhere else and bug that vendor.
Norm, your post is coming off as crabby and poopy.

Play nice. Whether Alex saved the life of the Pope, invented Viagra or singlehandedly won the Battle of the Bulge does not change the fact that they shipped half of her order to another person. They made a boo-boo. Giving her $25 bucks and a pat on the *** doesn't make it any better.

What do ya'll want from Tire Rack? Do they need to drop everything find the tires in the warehouse, charter a jet, fly to the persons home, install the new tires, detail the car fully inside and out, cook dinner (5 courses) and clean their home to make ya'll happy.

They made a mistake, they fixed the mistake. They offered all of us a way to get around the usual Customer Service and get right to a person that will handle the issue. What more is needed?

At least they tried to fix the problem yet some of you still beat on them like they are a horrid place to do business with.

Lets move on people. there are other things on NAM to beat on now. This one is now dead. I say so!

Now you're just exaggerating - next you're going to tell us someone made 231.9 whp with the RMW head.

To address your points:

1. Drop everything and find tires - Yes
2. Charter a jet - No
3. Fly to the persons home - No
4. Install the new tires - No
5. Detail the car - No
6. Clean the home - No.

What would have been nice:

1. Drop everything and find tires
2. Pay for overnight or 2nd day shipping

See how easy it is?
