Spax Specs

Hi everyone,
I'm looking at a set of Spax coilovers and have a question. Does anyone know where I can find some specs for them? I've searched and can't find their website. I found one, but it wasn't for the MINI.

What I'm looking for is the range of height adjustment. And since I've already started a thread, anyone with personal expierence can chime in at anytime.

i feel your pain! before i installed my spax coilovers, i had difficulty getting feedback on this forum....i checked some uk based sites and decided to install them. so far, so good. i have about 8k on these, including track days at sebring and homestead. i don't have the spes on the spring rates, but my feeling is: they are a good rate for a street/track car, but not enough for a hardcore track junkie.....i may be changing them. the damper adjustements are great. easy to change and significantly change the ride from softer than stock to bone jarring. some have questioned their durability, but mine have survived significant abuse so far. not a bad product for the money. until they prove otherwise, i would buy them again. i'm sure that you have seen the thread on the new bc coilovers. i met them at sebring and i'm interested to see how these value coilovers work on the street/track.

How much lower than stock do they allow you to lower them?

i ran out of tire clearance (215/35/18 kdw2's street and 225/40/17 hoosier R6's track) before a ran out of drop. i use 5mm spacers up front to get a little more drop and camber (-2.5). check this link for a shot of my car before i added the from spacers and dropped it another 1/4". http://www.motoringfun.com/downloads...-1280x1024.jpg
i also added rdr camber plates up front which reduce the initial drop by about 1/4". Minimun drop was about 5/8" with maximum determined by elements other that the coilover.

qwertmonkey: glad to help. i think the spax coilovers are often overlooked by people making suspension upgrades. they are made by the people who developed the oem MINI suspension. i have had three DE instructors all comment positively on how well my car handled. in addition to the spax coilovers, i have a MyMini 19 mm sway bar (middle setting), helix lower rear control arms, rdr camber plates, m7 uss, pro-grid drop links, TCE plus 4 front bbk and rear rotors. with 225/40/17 hoosiers on SSR type C-RS's the car is a lot of fun on the track. many "faster" cars are suprised.

Well, I have a 22mm rear sway sitting in my garage waiting to be installed....:-\

I think I'm going to pop for the coils. I mainly want the drop, but would like a little stiffness at the same time. Do I need to get an alignment or counterweight afterwards?

MOSS Mini sells them. I go into the showroom/sales dept regularly. They might be able to give you some info on them because I know they have been selling them for a while and alot of people in there are pretty knowledgable. I would give them a call.

all i remember about the spax thats better than anything else on the market is that they can raise the car 10mm beyond stock height! great for those winter months... and can go as low as -55 or something along those lines

Heres what I found on Moss's site:

SPAX has been making suspension components for 50 years and were the first company to produce on-car adjustable dampers. Their designs have passed strict German TUV testing for quality. Every strut and damper is fully computer dyno tested for assured quality and performance before leaving the factory. SPAX coil-over kits allow on-car adjustment of both height and damping. Height adjustment allows for quick and easy corner weight changes and precise height adjustment for the type of driving such as fast road, auto cross, or club track day. Height adjustable from 15mm-50mm lower. Damping adjustment has 28 unique settings to suit all driving styles.
But you're saying it can go higher than stock height?
