Suspension The M7 Coilover Suspension....
PARTSMAN - I sent you a PM over this, please check it and respond appropriately - privately.
As to my response in this thread, most of it was because Peter said they were 5 years old, and I know (because I was there) that there were very few here in the beginning - '02, and I can list them on one hand.
The other reason was because I disagreed with Randy's (M7) opinion that there are coilovers for the street and for the track, but not really both. One of our products was mentioned specifically, and to allow that to go without correction would have been misleading from the poster.
I think a $1500 option in the coilover arena is a great thing, and if they hold up under independent testing -great! Another question I have and I think should be brought to light is the true testing that is done - what are the track testing requirements of M7 before released, which I think is a fair question considering M7's marketing is based on such testing. Do they have a specific vehicle, a track, a method? Honest questions - not trying to talk down on. I hear a lot of my customers talking about the testing done by M7, and I credit them if it is true.
I am posting this because I spend a good deal of time and money doing my own testing - some of it on M7's products - and feel the right to market that way should be earned. I get tired of hearing about "new" ideas that are really rebranded items already out there on Ebay (not necessarily M7 that I am talking about - just general frustration).
I feel that if there is genuine product development - it should be shared. I am happy to share our testing methods. The talk should be followed up with the walk.
I am not saying that M7 is not doing the proper testing, but they should be able to show the methodology and discuss the vehicles the testing is done on. Show it, and when people ask for data, give it to them. Where are they made? What do the dyno plots look like? Etc. This goes to all new products, not just the M7 coilovers.
Sorry for the off-topic rant, but my goat has been gotten too many times not to lose my temper once in a while. I am always uber-respectful, and to be called out by PARTSMAN as having inappropriate behavior as expected by Webb Motorsports was too much.
Now - flame away! My point has been made clearly enough for me to feel like I have effectively communicated. If it is unclear, please PM me or join the chat to ask what I was thinking and why I must be out of my mind and completely too rude.

I assume you are talking about the Leda's . It has been mentioned in several forums with regards to several different cars that Leda's require too much maintenance for a daily driven street car. If you are on the track or using the car on a limited basis and do not mind the recharging with gas or replacing valves now and then you will be fine. To say that they will do 25 to 50 thousand miles without a rebuild is a disservice to the unknowing and to use your own word , misleading. I as well as other club members have used Leda's with great success on our track cars but have learned that is where they belong. It is no coincidence that Leda and Leak both begin with the letter L.

Totally agree that Ledas are for the track, but we do offer solutions that are street oriented. Ledas are great fro the occasional street use and track day car, or if the customer is willing to do the maintenance.

Wow....
I'm stepping away from the forum, and then this....
Bottom line, Maxmini said it best, we wanted to build the best
$1500 coilover possible, it cost us more to build and it took a little longer to get done then I had wished for, but the end result is a what I think is the perfect coilover package for the MINI enthusiast.
Randy. as for the five years, yes I started almost immediately after I got my first Cooper that was April 02, granted I didn't have a lot of M7 products early on. But look at us now....

Got it - I just had a business license for Webb Motorsports in '02, and was a member here on NAM as well. There were only a handful that really had dedicated to the MINI - MINI Madness, Helix13, Mini Mania, and Webb Motorsports - I'm sure there may have been a couple others, but none that I remember. Just because you have a car doesn't mean you are a tuner - that still applies today.
It is fine that you have great products now, just don't say you were here in the beginning if you weren't - or sell products by saying you track test them before you come to market with it for that matter - or say you are a tuner when you don't have a place to tune or have to hire a tuner to sort for you.

Another way to look at it is, it's an obstacle course. You have good mods and bad mods (aka unreliable, poorly designed, not tested). Distinguishing between the 2 are the obstacles. Get it wrong, and BAM, you (and your car) are screwed and back to the pits (Do not pass Go) .

Actually I am a little confused by this statement as well . I assume you are referring to my mentioning that I ,among others, feel the Leda, is more suited for the track than the street . Yet in your responce to another post you say

Totally agree that Ledas are for the track, but we do offer solutions that are street oriented. Ledas are great fro the occasional street use and track day car, or if the customer is willing to do the maintenance.
I'm not seeing where you needed to come in and defend Leda's honor when you agree with me ?

One is the truth, the other is not
No, I believe I asked for it back in post #39. Maybe not as eloquently as others. You are right, it is their choice not to share their testing requirements. And it is our choice to question that decision.
That's true. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Whether the testing is done by M7 or people that work for M7 shouldn't really matter. If M7 doesn't want to share testing requirements or any of the specifics that's their choice. You're probably the only one who wants to know.
M7 products speak for themselves, and the walk is being walked.
That's true. Couldn't have said it better myself.
I did.
What difference does it make?
I couldn't find the post in this thread where one of your products was mentioned. Maybe I missed it. Can you post the link to view the single post?

It has been earned, and not by rebranded items. We shouldn't discuss rebranded items.
M7 products speak for themselves, and the walk has been walked. The product development is shared when it is ready to be bolted on. You do things different, and that's fine.
See my response above.
Damn straight i'm going to call you out when you post about "your shock solutions" in the M7 coilover thread. It's just not right. Have a little respect, man.

That's true. Couldn't have said it better myself.I don't know why you would ask for it, it is certainly much more difficult to understand than the USS.
But go back and read this thread, and maybe a few others where someone had the temerity to question an M7 product......then you morph from Fanboy into Bully Boy.
In this thread, everything was ****** and giggles until goaljnky went against the M7 grain......and its gone south from there.
I have nothing against M7, I even bought a few products off of them when I owned my MCS and had no complaints. However, they don't need an attack dog to go after people that disagree with them. Both Horvath and Terwilliger can speak for themselves and I always love to hear what they say about rebranding and the efficacy of their products.
With all due respect, you aren't doing them any favors. A lot of your defensive posts come across as bullying. If Webb has made an attempt to take this offline and prevent yet another M7 thread from turning into a battle royale, show him and M7 some "respect" and spare us this train wreck.
Skippy
I see you made an edit. How quaint.
To answer your question - no. When I hit "Quote" it only copied your rant.
Do you want to now infer that I had a problem with an M7 product (like you did with Goaljnky)? Or that I'm a Webb fanboy (like Camelpilot)? Surely I have an ulterior motive - right?
Or are you done with your tantrum now?
Go to bed, Partsman. Sleep soundly knowing that M7's honor is safe for another day.
