Changing camber plate settings changes toe-in...what do you do?

I have just installed H-Sport adjustable camber plates and had the car aligned as well. The plates are now set at stock settings and are "marked" to show where -2 degrees can be found. But my alignment guy (a racing enthusiest and car builder) says that I can't just change my camber back and forth for track events because it changes toe-in a lot. He says it is really necessary to change the toe with each setting.

From the start I thought that the beauty of adjustable camber plates was that I could change back and forth for events. I'm kinda bummed. Thoughts anyone? What do people here do?

Set front at -1.5 degrees camber and 0.0 toe. Compromise that is acceptable for the street and works well at the track.

Toe can be measured with a tape measure and a string. And the first time you set the toe just count the number of turns needed to switch between settings. On a short track you'll probably want a little toe-out for maximum turn-in anyway.

Actually, I'd leave the camber at race settings all the time and change only the toe for events (toe is what wears out tires fastest anyway). With our rear-steer rack, changing camber to more negative increases toe-in which is the opposite of what you'd want, and that's just way too many things to juggle/places for things to go wrong...

and toe is adjusted under the car at the tie rods - not at the camber plates.

Unfortunately, that is a common misconception. As you now know, moving the camber plates completely changes your alignment.

Just set the front at -2.2 and the rear at -1.2 for camber, and then lock in whatever toe you want... As long as you rotate your tires every 3-5k miles, you'll notice no odd wear. I've had mine on for 1.5 years, setup the same way, and noticed no adverse wear. Since we mostly autocross, I run 1/8" total toe out in front and 0 (neutral) toe in the rear, and drive it like that every day... For track work, I dial in neutral toe up front and leave the rear along...

Else, you can buy yourself a set of cheap toe plates - http://www.longacreracing.com/catalo...id=152&catid=5

Or a toe-in gauge -

How many miles do you drive the car on the street annually? I've often run very aggressive camber and toe settings on the street in the past in various cars (as much as -3° camber and 1/4" toe out) and the tire wear isn't too bad, except with extreme toe settings. I'd advise setting the camber where you want it for the track, and compromise on toe settings for streetability and tire wear.

Hi guys, i have stock suspension, aligned with factory spec toe-in at the front and rear, which is 18 mins total in the front, and less in the rear, not quite sure.

If i run at 0 toe at the front, or even 0 toe all round, how will that effect the amount of grip i have?
