Suspension FrankenMegans WORK !!!!
alright im gonna go with 375 up front and keep the megans in the back and see how that works out. does anyone know the other specs that i will need for the springs when i go to order them? i wanted to order them asap because im going to be taking the mini on a long road trip in a few weeks and wanted to get this switch done
Sorry to resurect this thread but it's for a good cause...
Just wanted to give KURVHUGR some major kudos for pointing us in the right direction.
After driving with the new springs and the megans for over 4 months, I cannot express how satisfied I am with the whole set up.
They're not too soft as the 5kg, not too stiff as the 8kg, they're just right...said goldielocks (or in this case brownflyer)
The ride is stiff on twisties but yet compliant on rough roads. The biggest critic has been my wife, and she has had nothing but praise for the ride quality. And, no bottoming out as of yet...
In short, I love...
Thanks Kurvhugr,
Ev

I'm still loving mine as well. I still say it was just lucky guesswork, but results are results. Great control all the time; no more worries about surprise slides (and worse) from bottoming out at speed. It's a connected-to-the-road but comfortable ride and I no longer cringe at the sight of speed bumps, railroad tracks, pot holes, etc.

You said it best.... specially the "cringe" part.
Since switching to the megans I had to go to Heavier springs in the front than the 8K. This was due to Racing applications with R' compounds. Then again with the Street Tires i could get away with Kurvhugr set up.
...Unfortunately, I think Megan have left the Mini community??? I do speak with Steve fairly often. My kit is off to another NAM member with new cylinders and hardware...he is purchasing Eibach front springs in 375#...I think.
I never had a chance to try these with the new bumpstops and springs
. More than once recently, I thought about keeping them. But the car is a stocker and a new track only Mini should be ready in a year.
I spoke with Steve regarding my decision to go with Leda for this track only version. But, I asked if I could purchase the camber plate and pillowball from Megan and use it. I believe this plate will work with most non-stock coilovers.
This plate and pillowball are incredibly strong - given the pot holes I've hit.
Good luck to all you folks using Megan, especially Kurvhugr
