Is this the problem with getting negative camber in a 05+ MCS?

I've heard and read about a body reinforcement in the 2005+ MCS that prevents adding a decent amount of negative camber with camber plates. Are the rib type things in this picture what people are talking about? There appear to be three vertical ribs on the drivers side behind the spring with one being directly behind the middle of the spring. The stock spring looks to be about a half inch from the rib at the top.

Has anyone pounded these with a hammer without damaging the car? How hard is it to do this? I'm curious what others with newer cars have done.
