Does any one have an R-Speed rear sway bar? I need some pics on one. I just got one and the finish seems very cheap. The holes are not eaven and mismatched.
Thanks Eddie

If you show me yours, I'll show you mine.
Seriously, I think I took a few pics, but I'm not sure. Won't be able to check until tomorrow. If you post a few pics, I can tell you if it looks like what I remember mine to look like... Uneven and mismatched doesn't sound good. Where did you purchase it?

WOW, that's the biggest swaybar I've ever seen! Seriously though, unless your concrete slab isn't flat you should either return the bar or get some adjustable length end links. That is the nornal finish, I think.

OH, I just noticed the hole on the end isn't round!!! I'd want some $$ back on that.

I'd agree that the odd shaped hole is troublesome, but that is the normal finish. I got mine second-hand and the finish was in perfect shape but the holes were round.

I'd be willing to bet that you can get that replaced as it obviously got missed during quality control inspection.

The performance of the bar is awesome though!

MiniPepper, I installed my Rspeed sway a couple weeks ago. The finish on mine is more of a silver metallic powder coat. The bar was straight and the holes are round. Purchased on ebay for $149.95

After installing the bar the difference in handling is phenominal! Install time was about 2 hours using a florr jack and 2 jack stands.

Dido. However, if you do a search for some install instructions, one of them mentions the slight bend in the bar. From what I recall, this is not an uncommon observation and is thought to be a result of the forging process. I really wouldn't worry about it.

I have one these as a result of a vendor that strung me along and lied about an h-sport bar being shipped and when it would be available once he admitted he didn't ship it. Now that I have the r-speed bar, I hate it. It was bent enough to cause preloading with the stock endlinks. It also caused the endlnks to hit the body and brake one. Some of the holes are too big and some to small. The large holes have worn even larger and now rattle like crazy on the the endlink bolts. I may have to weld the holes and re drill them. I think I'll end up replacing it, but it burns me that I have to buy something twice.

When you install it, run the bar through a full range of motion with the endlinks attatched to the bar only to make sure you have clearance, especially on the stiffest setting.

I don't usaully make these type of complaints, but this bar doesn't even come close to being acceptable.

Today, I received a new R-speed rear bar that I bought from R-speed on eBay for $150. It appears to be an excellent bar. It's perfectly straight. The holes appear round and uniform. I have not installed it yet, but I have no concerns. Perhaps they have resolved their quality issues.

Sounds like 002 and MiniPepper got factory rejects. You might want to contact Rspeed and see if they'll make it right (assuming you got it from a valid source...)

I got mine from a nam vendor. I asked to exchange it, siting the issues and the fact that it wasn't the brand that I had placed the order for. I was told that it was probably an installation issue. They wanted me to take it out and measure it and report back. I said that my girlfriend spotted it right out of the box and that looking at how different the endlinks had to be set that it was obvious. In the end I told them F-off and that I would shop elsewhere.

I may contact R-speed, but I have had the bar for a year now and I just as soon buy another bar before dealing with the logistics of exchanging a part that I need to drive the car (yes I know it doesn't need it to drive, but I'm not doing the install two more times).

Eric, thanks for the concern, but I have about had it with mini tuners and I doubt I will go any further with this. I only made a comment in response to the thread.

I will say that jscspeed has come through everytime, service, price, etc...

I hear you, 002. Sometimes the PIA factor beats the cost factor.

Just curious, but did you installed it so that the ends of the bar bowed up or down? From what I've read they're supposed to be bowed down.

I bought my Rspeed direct from Rspeed on Ebay last winter. It is black, Straight, and the holes were fine. It does not contact anything it should not on the car. I did not have to decide which side is up, and I did not have to trim any body work to make it fit.

As for the endlink breaking.. I have read threads about the rear endlinks breaking when using a heavier than original sway bar. Several of the vendors sell replacement links of a larger than OEM diameter.

It's not the bow that is contacting. It is the twist from left to right. To have no preload requires one endlink to be adjusted almost completely short and one completely long.

As for the endlink damage, It is as if the bar is too short and the link joints contact the body. I am able to make it work now because with the adjustable links one lever arm will be lower than the other. I set the left to right position of the bar inward on the lower side so that when the bar moves up there is more distance from the body and the higher side can have just enough clearance if the rear suspension doesn't travel too much. With the stock links the lever arms were parallel and contact with the body was inevitable.

I should point out that I am a big boy and don't need any more help with this issue. I shared my experience only at the request of the post. Thanks for the concern. I am curious to compare it to my next bar.
