H-sports - aside from shocks is anything NECESSARY?

Im looking at putting some H-Sports onto my cooperS.

This is a strictly street driven car. Never on a track (other then drag strip).

Do I need to put any adjustable control arms/camberplates/etc in order to run these springs with a stock allignment?

Essentially, i want a 1" drop, improved handling, but dont want to eat tires any faster then I already do. I will certainly be doing an allignment after install, but is anything else necessary to keep this setup straight and smooth on the road?

yes, i will likely be putting shocks/struts on at same time.

I have searched, but am not finding exactly the direct info i want.

Thanks in advance.

From asking around, the short answer seems to be...it depends on your car and it's tendencies. I know at least 5 people with H-Sports, and they all had different camber changes with the springs.

With a 2002, you'll likely need the control arms, since you don't have the adjustment in the OEM arms like the '05+'s do. And if you're doing street driving, camber plates shouldn't be needed -- unless you have serious camber problems.

With OEM wheels and the H-Sports, the only thing I'd think you'd need with an '02 would be the control arms.

Of course, what do I know...

progressive rate springs make the car roll easier initially...so rear swaybar is recommended.

rear sway will be coming as well. If all goes well, I will be getting one from a friend when he trades in his MINI.

as for the rear control arms, ive seen a 50/50 split. I think i will just put the springs on, and allign it and go from there. Thanks for the responses

IMO, I have HSports and the rear camber doesn't look too bad.
Randy Webb installed them and I asked him afterward and he said it's fine. I do have a 2005 so there may have been a bit of adjustment done too. Although I have been reading that thread about the rear control arm breaking/bending and if you look at the stamped piece, it looks pretty shakey. I would feel much more comfortable with an adjustable helix or alta arm. maybe I'll do some by the summer...

So is it worth doing all four arms when you do them?

im in the same ballpark. i don't plan on getting arms until one of them
snap or something. if it does, im going to do all 4.

the rear camber is fine. a little more insurance for street is something
you can always live with.
