I did not refer to you when i was mentioning cry babies. I will try a different set of tyres next summer, and go to 205/40/18s, like recommended by JCW, should be more comfortable. By that time i should be done getting new struts too, anyways. Well, my car is almost as comfortable as the standard set up, and the only complaint is occasional rubbing issues, which are not very bad. So in most cases we share the same problems and luxuries as well. And finally, i agree with your 15" thought, people are diggin' 15s, but i do not like them. personal, it is all personal.

205's would also bring the edge of the tyre (theoretically) 5mm inward of the the arch, and a smidgen more sidewall...it's a bit of an odd size as far as tyres go though...

I agree..it is totally personal...

I do love the look of your white rims on the IB.....I'd just get the #%$ having to clean those beautiful rims....

Come to think of it...I'm surprised we haven't seen many gold or gun-metal coloured rims on IB or HB cars.....considering it looks so awesome on the WRC cars....

excuse me, my car is HB/HB , i am working on WRC look tho Yeah, not too many options on 205/40/18s, 215/40/18s is another option, might bring serious rubbing issues with the current set up, but its all gonna change thanks for the comments

nice! thanks....I was looking for the weight too!!

15.7 lbs....

even the offset = happiness....

On other news....I spoke to a friend in Adelaide who's a wheel distributor. He told me that the HT3 18 inch wheels I have are actually reasonably light for their size, and the only offset he can get them in is et45. He hypothesised that perhaps the wheels I bought are cheap Asian copies (which is a common thing down here). That's not a good feeling, but it would answer a few questions.....

I was running 18" GT-7s for a while...they were borrowed...so I had to give them back...they were SO much better than the Koing 17's I have now...they road smoother...and handled better...sigh...I miss them....but I'll get my own when I can...heh heh...

but most of all they LOOKED SICK! Look at that...awwww drool

in the end I think it's personal preference.....oh and the 18" GT-7s are lighter than the 17s I have...yes I know I can get 17 that are lighter...like 17" gt-7s that's not what I am saying....

Sweet pic....got any more of that gathering?

As for the better ride on the 18s - several people have mentioned that now - which is encouraging...

Tuls, can you throw up a few more new shots of your car? Ones that aren't in the dark or abstract? I'm getting tired of looking at the old ones I have

Help me out, too!

Hey fellas...just read the entire thread and wanted to get your opinion on my setup. I don't want to end up with the same problem as Tit (love that name man) where my spine becomes a jackhammer.

18 x 7.5 ADR M Sport wheels (28lbs)
http://www.mini2.com/galleries/showp.../16678/cat/586
KW Variant 1 coilover
H Sport rear sway bar (Sport)
H Sport control arms
Helix camber plates

I got the KW's at a really great price. I have ben told to go with Variant 2 since they are adjustable. I could have got a set of Tein SS for SUPER cheap but stayed away as the spring rate is so high.

I am not very knowledgable with this stuff so please advise. Should I reduce to a 17" wheel? Either way what tire should I get? Should I change my coilovers while I have the chance?

Seann

saifa- i would stick with your KW's but probably go 17's.

from wat i read, the KW's v1 and v2 use soft spring rate for a comfy ride.
(i don't know what the KW's spring rates are... do you know?)

for comfort, i would recommend going with a 205/45/17 or 215/45/17 tire.
if using 215/45/17, i would keep the offset around 45mm

A little too late man but thanks. My wheels just came today...now I am a little stressed out as far as ride quality.

I believe the KW spring rat is 280 front 320 rear for both the Variant 1 and 2
