Suspension Pilo Racing Custom Coilovers Coming Soon
Pilo where are you...??
Just kind of pushing buttons here to see Pilo's reply. Tis been more than a week since your last. There are 3 open threads in regards to these coilovers (2 in suspension 1 in vendors). The general concensus is they "look" ok. Install is a pain in the butt as is adjusting front camber and rear dampening. Any comments on this? How are those instructionscoming along?
I have spoke with you in an email or PM and Megan themselves about these coilovers. I am curious about one thing. If infact these units were actually "track tested" as i have been told by both parties why were these problems never noticed before?

Shipping needs to be improved since most of the mounting tabs were bent on both mine and Brad's and had to be straightened. Front camber is not adjustable from the top unless you expand the large hole in the top of the towers.
Rear stiffness adjustments need a hole drilled accurately above the top of the coilover into the passenger compartment, accessible behind the access doors. [/IMG]

Every aftermarket camber plate I have seen for the MINI required slotting the hole in the top of the strut to allow for maximum camber adjustment... I don't see why Pilo's setup would be very different. That's a small hole, and you gotta slide the top of the strut in quite a bit to get anything more than -1.5 degrees of camber...

My coilovers are being installed right now!
My mechanic said he was going to do sort of a photo documentary of the install and cut me a disk, so I should have some good pics.
I dropped the coils off three days ago so he could study/look them over (his request) and when I dropped the car this morning he said "those are some beautiful parts"....this is the best technician I've ever dealt with, and he wasn't taking about how they look. I'm curious to see if he still has the same opinion when he's done.
I can't wait for him to call to tell me he's ready for me to come in for the corner balancing. After that comes the FUN bit!

The results are definitely worth the wait. After driving Brad's car, I can hardly wait to put mine on.

If anyone does not recieve their perches by friday, please e-mail me (dan@piloracing.com) so that I can track it. Everyone should have it by then. This is a required update for the suspension, so to keep your warranty intact, please install these as soon as possible.
I have been very happy with the quality and performance both on street and track. I don't hesitate to reccomend them to anyone looking for the increased performance and adjustability of coilovers. I believe the early critisium of the system was from the initial installation issues, that have been completely resolved, not from actual users. Anyone who sees the units in person, and drives a car with these installed will attest to their qualit, performance and value.
I love mine too. The spring rate differential front to rear make the car much more willing to rotate without the use of huge rear swaybars. This will give a different feel to the car as well; it responds 'now' to every input whereas a swaybar needs to twist a little. You can always dial in a little more rebound damping up front while driving on the street. I think DK23 has his set at 12 from full hard front and rear. Mine are set 13 from full hard front and 12 from full hard rear...but I always play with the settings.
I've been think of asking Steve for a set of different springs, but I'll wait until I've had some time with the WEBB bar.
I still have not put together a full instruction diagram. I also have a quick fix access for those with the HK stero - remember the amp is in the way. I simple used a 2 1/2" hole saw and cut thru the plastic opposite the adjuster. This hole is covered by the seat when it is in it's full upright position. Just lower the seat and you have access.

These are some great reviews. I'm glad that you are all enjoying the coilovers as much as I do.
We have plenty in stock right now for anyone else that wishes to order them.

Would these work good with H-sport front and rear sway bars?
Also, are these a pure bolt on or is there any drilling or anything like that needed to install them? I know about the rear adjustment problem and I will drill holes for that. But how do I get around the HK amp on one side?
Thanks,
Dan

I believe that meb explained quite well how to get around the HK amp.
Let me know if there are any questions.
Oh, There is no drilling required for the basic install. 100% Direct Bolt in.
Right on!
