05 MCS Rear Camber adjustment

I have an 05 Cooper S and confirmed that the rear camber is adjustable. The question I have is how much? Is there any tech data out there yet as to the adjustment range ? Thanks

I believe the outside spec is -1.5 for the rears in stock trim, which is actually a pretty decent setting for the street. It depends a lot on how you drive. You may need to rotate the tires a bit more often with -1.5

I just hope there is enough range once I lower it with the Eibach Pro kit to get the camber back closer to stock range

Thanks

According to the other thread on this, -1.50 is in the middle, with +/- .50 variance. So -1.00 and -2.00 is in spec. (Sorry, I thought it was -1.00 +/-)

Well, worst case is a set of lower control arms, under $250 and easy to install. Hey, it's only money.

Passat774,

I have an Nov. 04 build MCS. I do not have the off center bolt.
I just puchased the Eibach springs. They are not listed to fit the the 05. However, none of the other manufactures I checked showed any changes. Did you find the same information? I would love to see and hear about your install. In partciular pics of the off center bolt.
I work at a Napa store and have been looking for a off center bolt setup in the alignment catalogs that might work.
I plan on doing the install myself. I intended to wait till after the install to decide if a camber change is necessary.

Here is the pics we have been waiting for:

You can see the small range that you can adjust the bolt of you click on the pic. This is rear passangers side of the car... 2005 Jan 05 build MCS

I am not worried about the 05 being any different with the Eibachs. The 05 Eibach book show's the Coopers taking the same kit

For your reference-

Rear camber is your choice from -1.0 to -2.0 degrees range.
How much you can do will depend on your MINI and it's suspension setup and right and left may vary a little.

A safe street range is about -1.0 to -1.5 degrees, performance is good, tire wear is OK, not excessive.

Here is a good look at the cam and nut.

I am not sure if you will be able to get back to stock camber with this. you may still need rear camber arms to get back to a stock setting. i have not played around with this yet. the owner of this 05 put rear control arms on. hope this helps out some.

Thanks for all the information.

Oh, I just thought about the bumb stops. Do they need to be modified?

i would say they should be, but read the directions that come with your springs. H-sport springs come with new bump stops, but if your springs do not, then you need to reuse or stock items. if the directions do not say to cut them, then that is up to you. good luck

Just measured this week, the 05 adj. range is 1.4 deg. So, if you lowered your car, you might find that you could go as low as -1.0 deg. or as high as -2.4 deg. It is not necessary to be in alignment spec for autocrossing, even in stock class, as long as the parts are stock and unmodified and in the non stock classes the control arms can be replaced if you want more range.

I had the same problems after lowering my MCS with Alta spring and MiniHune advised me to change my adjustable lower control arms. Which fix my problems completely.

Steve, if I remember correctly, yours is missing the cam. It has the bolt, and slide nut, but a centering washer as to the cam. It must have been built in production change over. But I would think that if you ask for them from the dealer, they would give them to you for free.

Yeah that's not enough for the H-Sports adjustments. Looks like a pair of adjustable lower control arms is in order for Detroit Tuned
