How to install coilovers incorrectly

I installed ST coilovers about a year ago and never really liked the feel. It always felt bouncy, especially at lower speeds. I got help from KW and I spent a lot of time measuring everything again and I found my mistake.

On the front coilover, ST/KW tells you to measure the height with "A" as shown in the diagram. Unfortunately, it is difficult to measure because of the sway bar end links so I measured on one side to make sure I was within the upper and lower range that they recommended and then just measured "X" as shown in the diagram. I made sure X was the same on both sides.

After I measured "A" again on both sides, I found that the it was off by 1/8". Again I measured "X" and it was identical. I checked to make sure the struts are all of the way seated and measured again to get the same result. The top of the knuckle is 1/8" different.

After adjusting it to make sure "A" was the same on both sides and the ride height was the same in the front and rear, the car feels great. It is stiff but it doesn't bounce like it used to.

TLDR; The wrong way to measure is to use "X" and the right way is to follow ST/KW directions and use "A". I used a wire with tape marks for the length I wanted because it was easier to get around the end links.
